    "EXCRUTIATING NARRATOR"
What did you like best about From Potters Field? What did you like least?

Love Patricia Cornwell novels, great author. Excrutiatingly difficult to listen to narrator. I started and stopped listening to this book five separate times; finally decided to continue listening since I purchased it (gave up credits).

What was one of the most memorable moments of From Potters Field?

    The entire storyline was good.

    What didn’t you like about C. J. Critt’s performance?

Her narration was flat except during those times when she tried emphasizing a particular exclamation which was, in my opinion, at inappropriate times.

    Any additional comments?

I will not purchase anything narrated by this individual in the future.

    "A poor reading"

I generally like Patricia Cornwall books, but I simply couldn't stand listening to the reading of this book due to the voice artist's choice of readings. For example, she plays one of the major characters as a monotonic, Dan-Akroyd-in-Dragnet kind of a cop, which might be fine if he wasn't also the protaganoist's lover and needed to show some sensitivity on occassion. Other voices are similary stereotypical and don't display any depth of characters. Normally a lover of audiobooks, this is the first time I've had to stop listening because the reading was SO bad.

    "Good book but not reader"

I enjoyed this book as I enjoy all Patricia Cornwell's books. I hate listening to CJ Critt. She makes Benton sound stiff and constipated! She frequently pronounces medical terms incorrectly. I prefer Kate Reading to read.

    "Reader is a distraction"

I haven't finished this book yet but I am not liking the reader. One of the few times that I find the reader is distracting me from the book: unnatural pauses in the reading, lack of animation in the voices of the characters. Even missed the opportunity to do NY accents. I admit to not being a huge fan of Cornwell anyway but the performance is making it that much more difficult to finish.

    "Serial Killer Caught"

Exciting and fast paced, Scarpetta, Marino and Wesley finally tackle a3-book serial killer in downtown New York...away from her native Virginia. It was a fun read and I'm on to the next Cornwell mystery.

    "Another great story miserably narrated"

I can't listen to another Scarpetta novel narrated by CJ Critt. This well-written, engaging story is totally ruined by Critt's chirpy, fairy-tale-style narration and pregnant pauses. I'll be reading the next several Scarpetta books until I get to the next one with a new narrator.

"A Cornwell with Scarpetta great again"

This book is really good, trying to figure out the culprit along with Scarpetta, keeps one thinking and wondering, did this person, or that one do it, so many could have. Who did it.

    "Fantastic Book"
Would you listen to From Potters Field again? Why?

I love the Kay Scarpetta series. The characters are so real and come to life!

    Any additional comments?

The Kay Scarpetta series is so captivating I generally listen to the book a couple of times. They are so entertaining and enthralling that once I start a title it is hard to put it down! By the end of the story I am sad to see it end. The events are believable, the reader of the stories really bring the characters to life. I am glad it is always CJ Critt who reads because she keeps the characters from one book to the next. I cannot name one other reader off the top of my head-that is how much I enjoy listening to her and I have over 160 titles in my library! You can listen to them out of order and the story quickly fills in for you, however I am currently going through the series in chronological order. Anytime someone mentions needing a good book to read, I always recommend the entire series!

    "Loved it!"
What made the experience of listening to From Potters Field the most enjoyable?

I'm loving these Scarpetta books, and I've enjoyed listening to Critt's character choices.

What about C. J. Critt’s performance did you like?

She has kept the same characterizations from the first book until now, and it makes the books more realistic, as if we're listening to real relationships evolve. I saw someone complaining about her voice for Wesley, and that just seems like a negative negative Nancy thing to complain about.

Sure he's not voiced like Mark was, but he is voiced like he always has been, which suits his personality. There are some actual human beings who fall in love with guys who chew their words and take life a little too seriously.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I'm running through these books like water - I'm already dreading the end - of the series, and I believe a brand new book comes out soon!

    "Another great read!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book was easy to listen to and very exciting!

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I did find the characters voices could have been more distinct. It took me a couple of hours to get into the voices..but I still loved the book..
