Tied up loose ends from the past and moved forward

Yes, this is a bridge book but I was glad to read it because I was sooooo frustrated by the ending of the previous episode. This book wrapped up loose ends from the previous book and set other characters into position to move forward in future books. One character that was left behind was a plus for me because I could never warm to him.

This book is a series of wars. First it is the Weres and then the Vamps and our Sookie Stackhouse is an integral part of both. Eric Northman, with whom Sookie has a blood bond, must prevent more deaths including that of the new Vampire ruler.

It was fun seeing the interaction of Amelia & Bob. We also learn more about Jason & Crystal and Sookie has a new found relative.

When I finished this I immediately picked up the next in the series. I could not wait.

LOVED this book

Thank goodness for Charlaine because now that LKH has turned into a romance, bodice ripper writer, Sookie with all her Southern charm and unpretencious bravado will have to take first chair from Anita.

I enjoyed every second of this book and I loved the narrator as well. I actually felt like I was there with them all and that is why I love books and audio books to begin with.

Don't miss this one... you will love it.

More of a series review

After my ex got me hooked on HBO's True Blood, I had to come to it's source. I have enjoyed it, as expected, even more than the TV version. I have realized in the past couple of books that one thing bothers me, and it isn't as prevalent in this book (or I didn't seem to notice it): I dislike the fact that at almost every reference to an event that occurred in a previous book, I am subjected to a synopsis of it as if I had completely forgotten the main plot of an entire previous book.

I can't imagine who this caters to, as it seems illogical to start a SERIES anywhere but at the beginning. Maybe I am the abnormal one, but the time spent rehashing entire books in a matter of a paragraph has become cumbersome. As stated, I didn't feel it was as strong in this installment - which, either due to fact or my own absent-mindedness, was a welcome relief.

Otherwise, these are thoroughly entertaining stories that have become my guilty pleasure as an interlude between more cerebral listens. I am not one that has to always find something wrong in an otherwise good thing, but I do wonder if anyone else has found this to be a similar vexation.

Seven books in Seven Days

OK, so I got a little obsessed! After watching True Blood for the last few weeks, I decided to read the novels that they're based on. I could find only #5 and #7 in my library, so decided to use the credits I so carefully hoard on Audible. Paper or player, these books were the Hagen-Das of my week. Kept going back for just one more! Didn't talk to my husband all week! Didn't even leave the house all week!
Audible, where is #4? I'm second on my library's list for #4...that could be 6 weeks! How will I last?
Review:
The Narrator is great! She IS Sookie! And everybody else.

The books are fun & sexy. Very sexy. They are full of imaginative ideas that make up a plausible world. Sookie is tough, sweet and very smart. She figures things out quickly & takes action. Her specialty is thinking outside the box that the vampires live in.

I think that this book, #8, has some more interesting plots twists than a few of the others and also has some nice cues for the future.

Big question...Eric or Bill?...or someone else?

One of the best in the series

I thorougly enjoyed this book, despite way too much rehashing of previous plotlines. The stories of Bill, Eric and Sookie converge here in a very satisfying way. The faerie subplot is further fleshed out in a very satisfying way and lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes!

A good read, but not the best in the series

This next addition to the Sookie Stackhouse series brings up the possibility of new directions for Sookie. I love this series, and while I rated this book highly, I have to count it as not as good as some of the earlier books. It feels like Sookie is tired, and perhaps a little jaded. I don't want to spoil anything for the reader, so I will refrain from comments of a specific nature. I will say that I am looking forward to the new directions some of the occurences could travel.
The narration is only so-so. Sookie sounded like she needed a shot of lithium to perk her up a bit. Narration is certinaly an art, and while this vocalist is clearly good, I think Sookie can be matter of fact, and still retain her southern spunkiness.
