LOVE SOOKIE!

I've "read" all the books in the series and I'm happy to find out that we have quite a few more books to come, I can't get enough of it. However I agree with some comments here, that this book was not as good as the others. It seemed a bit slower, a lot of unnecessary parts, and I found myself not as usually captivated by Charlaine Harris' books. It was still a very good book, don't get me wrong. And I can't wait for the next one to come out. Hope audible.com has it on audio as soon as it comes out.

amazingly fresh

I am completely hooked on these books, and am surprised at how she manages to keep them fresh and exciting. Loved the ending and can't wait to listen to the next one. Johanna Parker is a wonderful reader.

Mystery, War, and Intrigue

After the events of Katrina and the explosion at the vampire summit, many things have changed! Beings who have been alive for centuries are now severely injured or dead. The Louisiana vampire population took a nasty hit during Katrina and now have lost more among their ranks, including losing almost all of the remaining Arkansas vampires. Sophia Anne is in a vulnerable place and that also means that Sookie's vampires are too. But that is the least of her problems! The female weres that she knows from the Longtooth Pack are getting murdered, and now Sookie is being brought into a potential were-war. This is an explosive book with so many changes within it pages!

And of course... my "bookly" shout out to the amazing Johanna Parker! She is still amazing as Sookie's voice and she is the voice that I think of whenever I think of Sookie Stackhouse!

Love It!

Sophie Ann barely makes it out of the Katrina disaster alive. She doesn't get out unscathed. It ruins her financially. After the aftermath of that, she's summoned to trial for the death of her husband. Her name gets cleared, but the hotel she and a bunch of other vampires were staying in gets blown up. She gets very hurt, but remains alive. Everything seems to be calming down. Sadly, they aren't out of the danger yet. In the midst of all of this, Sookie is trying to come to terms with the fact that Quinn has gone missing with no word. I've really enjoyed this series. This is technically my second time reading this series, but in order this time. It may as well be my first. I don't remember anything about it. I'm really enjoying it. Maybe not as much as I first did, but I enjoy it still. This particular one made me a little sad. Sookie seemed to be going through so much and had nobody to really turn to. I really felt for her. I won't get into everything being that I don't really spoil thing in any of my reviews, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who was empathetic with her in this one. There wasn't really anything I didn't care for in this book. Honestly, most of them are really petty and not worth complaining over. One of the issues I had with the book was that everybody seems so disconnected from Sookie in this one. However, I'm willing to admit that this story is told from Sookie's point of view. It's very possible that she's perceiving them as not understanding her. That's one of the best and worst things about first person. You only see it from their point of view. You only get their thoughts and their points of view. This book was narrated by Johanna Parker. She also narrated the books before this one in the series. She just has this very authentic with her tones for every character. My heart will seriously break if I find out that this woman doesn't have a real southern accent. She's that good with it! If it is not authentic, it really does show how talented she really is in my opinion. I can't wait to hear her narration of the rest of the series. I've really enjoyed this series so far. There are times I really don't care for Sookie. She can be very stubborn and overly judgmental at times. She does have a good hear though. She means well. Too many people take advantage of that sadly. I know she's just a fictional character, but let's be honest, we all know somebody like her in real life. OR we are all like her. But I digress. I really am loving this series and I can't wait to read the rest!

Always Fun!

Sookie is growing up and with that comes maturity and some loneliness. The characters are always great. And even in the vampire world there were victims of Katrina! I would recommend reading these book in the series order. You will laugh and cry...and say "oh my".

Up and down again

This book made me so sad in places... Sookie's really becoming damaged by her involvement in the supernatural world and it's hard to see. She wasn't exactly innocent in the beginning, but she seems so beat down sometimes that it's somewhat tragic. On the other hand she's still really naive about some things.

I think the storyline is becoming a little obvious when it comes to her "cousin" and other extended family.

Sookie Stackhouse Series is a MUST read!

I have listened/read all of the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries, 1 - 8. I enjoyed every single one of them. The writing is good, clear, suspenseful and humorous. The narrator, Johanna Parker, does some of the best narrating I have heard...exactly the way I would presume Sookie Stackhouse would sound. You can't go wrong with this series. I CAN'T WAIT until installment NINE!!
