Framed in Lace | [Monica Ferris]

Framed in Lace

When the historic Hopkins ferry was raised from the bottom of the lake, who would have thought they were literally raising the dead! But there it was—a skeleton—right before their eyes. Unfortunately, the evidence is slim and soggy: the boat sank in 1949, the victim on board was a woman, and near the body is a piece of unidentifiable lacelike fabric. Sounds like a job for Betsy Devonshire. Betsy knows there's more to this story than what’s on the surface.

    "Kept me Tangled Up!"
If you could sum up Framed in Lace in three words, what would they be?

    interlocking - intense - intrigue

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot stayed fresh & involved, NOT backtracking on previous story lines repeatedly like so many books are doing now so they feel like a newscast - same things said from 4 different angles...

Which character – as performed by Susan Boyce – was your favorite?

    Jill

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The talk of the approaching winter weather and the views of those that live there always and those new to the area. Descriptions were great!

    Any additional comments?

Getting the next 2 books now, gotta keep reading these!

Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.

"Mystery, History, Murder AND Needle Work!"

This is the second in this series that combines murder mysteries with the goings on of a needlework shop, Crewel World and all those in the small town of Excelsior, Minnesota. I've grown to love the funny, experienced, as well as the fearful "I will never be able to do this" needle crafters, which by the way, include the shop's owner, Betsy, who inherited the shop from her sister. This audio book focuses on an old murder from 1949 when a boat sank in the harbor, and when they pull it up, a skeleton is found. The twists and turns in solving this very COLD CASE, are quirky, and will absolutely keep you listening and entertained. I didn't suspect who the murderer was until the very end. I will be listening to the next book in the series.

    "Light and easy"

Nothing great about this series but they are light and easy. I really like them after listening or reading a book I found challenging or difficult in some way. They are like brain candy. If you aren't interested in craft these might bore you silly.

    "Pretty good"

This is the second installment of the Needlecraft Mystery series set in Excelsior MN. In this installment, Betsy falls into another investigation and solves it in her usual entertaining fashion. This is a good book and I will lok forward to the next book in the series.
