Publisher's summary

Danger, excitement and love - this is how the glamorous Phryne Fisher is determined to live her life in her second enticing adventure. Walking the wings of a Tiger Moth plane in full flight ought to be enough excitement for most people, but not Phryne Fisher, amateur detective, woman of mystery, as delectable as the finest chocolate and as sharp as razor blades.

In this, the second Phryne Fisher mystery, the 1920s' most talented and glamorous detective flies even higher, handling a murder, a kidnapping and the usual array of beautiful young men with style and consummate ease - and all before it's time to adjourn to the Queenscliff Hotel for breakfast. Whether she's flying planes, clearing a friend of homicide charges or saving a child from kidnapping, she handles everything with the same dash and elan with which she drives her red Hispano-Suiza.

Solve another case with Phryne Fisher.

Bubbly (like in champagne) Mystery

As in the first book, and perhaps even more so in this, Phryne’s capabilities are as extravagantly drawn as her character. I won’t go into the plot other than to say there are two main tracks, so it really moves along. I do love this narrator (Stephanie Daniel), and especially enjoyed her short interview of Kerry Greenwood at the end of the recording. I’ll definitely be reading more of this series.

Ripping great yarn

Wonderfully written and read. This is s great story where Phryne has to solve a kidnapping of a little girl and a murder. She does both with some truly funny moments as well as a hair raising automobile ride. I love all the characters and the kidnapped girl is a delight especially as characterized by the narrator. I listened to the book in the car and often sat in the driveway to finish a chapter. Superb!

Phryne Fisher at it again!

Where does Flying Too High rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I particularly enjoy listening to books that don't require a great deal of attention, this is the second Phryne Fisher I've read and will continue on with the rest of the series.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The 'plot' is not a complicated thing but they characters thruout the book are most enjoyable; read the first book because characters are carried out thru the series.

Have you listened to any of Stephanie Daniel’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is only the second time I've listened to a book read by Stephanie Daniel...she does a great job!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No necessarily.

Any additional comments?

Am not getting ready to listen to Book 3 in the series.

Much better narration

I gave Stephanie Daniel a very poor review for the first book and now I am ready to take it back. Her performance was lively and engrossing, giving Kerry Greenwood’s ideas the emphasis they deserved. This book is a fun ride, enjoy!
