Publisher's summary

Fin Finnegan, a San Diego police detective and wannabe actor heading straight for a midlife meltdown, is assigned a routine truck theft that turns into a toxic chemical spill, setting off a bizarre chain reaction of death and murder on both sides of the Mexican border. Fin is forced to team up with Nell Salter, a sexy female investigator, as well as an equally fetching U.S. Navy investigator who wants to learn all that Fin can teach her - and that’s saying a lot.

Well done!

Thank you for such perfectly imperfect characters!
i want to hang out with each one of them and get to know them better.

So so

Ok. Predictable story but reader was good. Story was very predictable and lack luster. Performance was good, great voices and nice pacing.

Hysterical Simile and Metaphor….

…one right after another, and in the midst of a very arresting story. My second Wambaugh Novel…Choirboys being the first…and I hope to revisit his acerbic wit and style. Great listen for an extended Road Trip.

A GREAT MIX OF POLICE WORK AND HUMOR

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It is the type of Joseph Wambaugh I love to read. It's a combination of police work with humor sprinkled in. The story is set in San Diego at the time George Bush was running against Bill Clinton.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Fin Finnegan because he's so neurotic. A 45 year old cop with 3 bad marriages behind him Finn wants to be a movie star when he grows up. But it doesn't appear that's going to happen any time soon.

Which character – as performed by Ray Chase – was your favorite?

The same answer - Fin Finnegan - for the same reasons.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

THE LAW WINS - BY DEFAULT

Wam-blah

The plot and characters were average at best, and the story was poorly written and not well performed, unfortunately.
