Publisher's summary

"One of the hottest new authors in the thriller genre." - Brad Thor, Attack on America.

The first target is Dallas, Texas. A deadly nerve gas called New Archangel is unleashed upon the City of Angels, claiming innocent lives, spreading nationwide panic, and fueling global fears of another attack. In the icy reaches of rural Alaska, special agent Jericho Quinn is enlisted to hunt down the man who created the bioweapon - a brilliant Russian scientist who is trying to defect and hiding in the Alaskan wilderness. But time is running out. The scientist is beginning to lose his mind to dementia. If Quinn doesn't find him before the Russians do, the entire western seaboard and beyond will feel the wrath of New Archangel - and darkness will fall upon the earth.

Good Story Overall

The overall story was average or sightly above. This review is about the sound / narration quality. The pitch and tone changed often throughout the nearly 12 hour audiobook. I don't know if out-takes were dubbed in or if a producer was intentionally trying to change the voice of different characters. It was annoying. Or, there was no quality assurance before releasing the audio recording.

Thank you, Mr. C, for a satisfying, uplifting epilogue.

Granted, these are not the type stories in a genre known for happy endings. But — still miffed after enduring Mr. Cameron’s disingenuous finish to ‘Day Zero’ a few back — at least this one concludes with a sense of hope ... for whatever follows.

Another great Jericho Quinn book

I love this series and this was another great adventure for Jericho Quinn and company. while not as far ranging as some novels, it was interesting to see Jericho back home in Alaska and in the environment in which he grew up.

The three stars for performance were due to the fact that in multiple places, the audio sounded like the narrator was talking into a can. it would suddenly sound muffled and distant. I assume it was poor editing but it was distracting and I had to go back a few times because I couldn't understand what was said.

Jericho Quinn, but plagued by production issies

Some parts of the production/narration are oddly chopped up and clearly using different equipment or settings, I can ignore it once but it happens about half a dozen or more times. Jericho Quinn is never a bad listen though!

good book. the performer needs to work on his Russian accent, it just isn't convincing. but otherwise he did a good job.

Excellent Jericho Quinn Thriller!

Field of Fire is about an ultra nationalist Russian terrorist cell with the most deadly poisonous gas ever trying to bring the US to its knees. There is a new character FBI agent Khaki Beaudine who''s Jack Thibodaux's cousin working with Quinn in Alaska. Action and suspense junkies will love this novel.
