Publisher's summary

Colorado caterer Goldy Schulz encounters bridezilla and murder in another delectable novel by the New York Times best-selling author of Sweet Revenge, Dark Tort, and Double Shot.

It's been a long, rainy summer for Goldy Schulz, who is engaged in planning wedding receptions for what seems to be all of Aspen Meadow. It's bad enough that Billie Attenborough, the bride from hell, wants to move the location to the Gold Gulch Spa just a scant two days before tying the knot to her doctor fiance. Then Doc Finn, best friend of Goldy's godfather Jack, is killed when his car tumbles into a ravine. But Jack thinks Doc was murdered because of research he was doing at the spa, allegations that are confirmed when Jack himself is attacked.

So Goldy dons chef's whites and goes undercover at the spa. Add in the obstreperous owner, who years ago tried to sabotage Goldy's fledgling business, and she's got her hands full.

Above all, there seems to be a clever killer on the spa grounds, watching her every move. After what befell Jack, Goldy knows that she might be next. Catering weddings, and cooking low-fat food, could be killing her...literally.

Goldie is fun, and fun is all you get

I categorize the Goldie mysteries as brain candy; fun to read, little substance. This was no exception, and I enjoyed it. Barbara Rosenblatt doesn't sound like Goldie to me, but she's always a great narrator, so no complaints.

Odd Audio...

This audio book was, well... odd. The producers cut in what sounded like 80's elevator music at the chapter changes, and faded them out while the narration began. I like this series- it isn't brilliant, but brilliance isn't what I am looking for in "theme mysteries". They just have to be fun. This was ok, but I probably will avoid the audio versions of this series in the future- the production quirks were a distraction.

Hate the music

Hate the music between chapters! ...,Barbara Rosenblat does a fine job, although it’s her voice is clearly not the thirty something voice you would expect Goldie to have!

Flaky......

I have loved her books since the first one - but she has gotten away from including recipies. And the last few have been lacking. I truly like these characters but I found myself shaking my head over the stupid things some of them did. I even yelled at my IPOD a few times. Just did not enjoy this listen as much as I had hoped......

Typical

These books aren't especially witty, but they keep me interested enough to keep ordering them. I'm not sure why the narrator always sounds like a 60 yr old smoker; when Goldie is much younger than that. But anyway, like I said I keep coming back.

Music

The music between chapter was so distracting and annoying that I had a hard time wanting to finish the book.

Unnecessary Music

I DID NOT like the music that was at the beginning and end of every chapter. The music was not in the other stories, and I really hope it is not in the last two books. I think it would be different if music had been a part of the rest of the series. I loved the story! Goldy sure knows how to get into trouble! Love the stories and the characters....just not the music.

good book

the music marking the end of chapters is annoying! the plot was good, and this time the main character did talk to the killer as much, however she does admire the killer until she is very nearly murdered. the narrator brings the characters to life. one major problem, in her first book, we are told that the money for her commercial kitchen came from her settlement for the divorce... this book says her godfather have her the money??? only one can be true.

fabulously entertaining!

The combo of Goldy Bear and Barbara Rosenblat is unbeatable for non-stop entertainment and light intrigue. This is the type book that makes me smile and forget the stress of the workday. The food references and recipes at the end are a great touch. I highly recommend this series if you read for pure entertainment and enjoy women sleuths as much as I do!

I had to keep listening to it because I didn't know who did what to whom.

ending was really exciting because you weren't sure who was going to survive! it was a good ending because the bad guys were caught and all the food was listed at the end which was great!
