The victim was buried alive in the Georgia woods, then killed in a horrifying fashion. When Sara Linton and Jeffrey Tolliver stumble upon the body, both become consumed with finding out who killed the pretty, impeccably dressed young woman. And for Sara and Jeffrey, a harrowing journey begins, one that will test their own turbulent relationship and draw dozens of lives into the case.
Lena Adams is one of them. A Grant County detective for years, she has her own reasons for being drawn to this case and a fierce drive to see justice done. For these three people, who have each seen the darkest side of human nature, the body of the murdered girl is but the first in a series of shocking and sordid revelations.
Now, as Jeffrey and Sara narrow the field of suspects, they must confront their own doubts and indiscretions, while Lena Adams sees herself reflected in the frightened eyes of a battered woman who may be the key figure in the case. As Faithless builds to a stunning and unforgettable climax, Karin Slaughter masterfully brings together strands of interlocking lives, family secrets, and hidden passions with one astounding truth: the identity of a killer who is more evil and dangerous than anyone could have guessed.

"A compulsively readable narrative." (Booklist)
"Slaughter's fifth Grant County case offers tough love, suspenseful spadework and life-affirming vigor." (Publishers Weekly)
I enjoy Karin Slaughter's writing, but I thought the narration of Clarinda Ross was terrible. I don't think I will be able to listen to any other books that she "performs". Her affected accents were horrible. I have enjoyed this series up until this book.
Kathleen Early. She did a fantastic job in the first books.
I don't understand why this one was worth two credits. The book was good, but definitely not as good as "Triptych". It was not filled with as many twists as "Triptych", nor did it have the same character interdependency. After reading "Triptych", "Faithless" was a bit of a disappointment.
This could have been a really good book had there not been a lot of gaps. I think for an unabridged reading the author could have gotten more indepth with the pasts of two of the women characters. I don't want to say which ones but anyone preparing to listen or who has already listened will understand.
Done with the series now
It ruins a book. If the narrator changes I'm struggling to connect with the new person. It's annoying and a horrible experience. I never ask for a refund unless they change the narrator. It's like your favorite TV show then one day and the characters change with the same name/same plot. It's bad business and your asking for negative feedback. All that hard work writing a book I would typical enjoy if you kept the narrator. Shaking head.
No. Terrible narration-really unnatural inflection of words and phrases. Terrible job voicing the men. Her narration really grated.
It's like when TV shows replace a character with a new actor. After listening to all the previous books in this series narrated by Kathleen Early I just couldn't get used to a new narrator. As if it wasn't bad enough to change the narrator in the middle of a series, the one they chose was terrible. Wish I had read this book instead of listening to it.
Daily commuter relying on Audible to keep awake. I need excitement! If something crazy doesn't happen in the first 20 mins I'm done!
I enjoyed the book. The ending surprised me but all the loose ends were wrapped up. I hate books that have unresolved stuff. I'll listen to more of her novels.
I love this author and series, but the change of narrator threw me through a loop. The story wasn't the best of the series so I found myself getting lost with who is who.
The story line was good, but the Narrator made it hard to listen to. They should of NEVER changed Narrators in the middle of a series.
I thought Clarinda's voice was to hick-ish for the classy Sara Linton. Sara sounded like she was a hefty male football player that lived in a trailer and smoked 3 packs a day.
