Publisher's Summary

The home was top-notch New Jersey suburban. The living room was Martha Stewart. The basement was Legos...and blood.

For sports agent Myron Bolitar, the disappearance of a man he once competed against was bringing back memories, of the sport he and Greg Downing had both played and the woman they both loved. Now, among the stars, the wanna-bes, the gamblers, and the groupies, Myron is unraveling the strange, violent ride of a sports hero gone wrong, and coming face-to-face with a past he can't relive, and a present he may not survive.

Fade Away is an Edgar-winning novel.

    ""electronic" narration? Slow-paced story"

I have enjoyed every Harlan Coben book - except this one. Many times during the listening, it sounded like the narration was "electronic" - i.e., as if changes were made in the narration via a machine. It would be hard to believe that the narrator really spoke that way! Also, his voice is so deep that he is difficult to understand. As for the plot, I found it very slow - the book dragged until the end, and as another reviewer stated, the end was rushed. Slow, slow, slow and then--------fast and finished! This book, while written a number of years ago, has me questioning if I want to try another Harlan Coben.

    "I love ME"

Coben's use of the double entendre, albeit a tad over the top, actually works! I find his sense of humor to be just right. Like a lot of recent authors, I found his ending to be a bit rushed; but rate this one as one of his best yet. More Myron!

"Good old genuine Harlan Coben novel"
What made the experience of listening to Fade Away the most enjoyable?

No boring "transport parts" or dead points. The story is moving forward all the time.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fade Away?

Some matters in the story are far from realistic but, of course, fiction is fiction.

What about Jonathan Marosz’s performance did you like?

He ought to be regarded as a part of a Coben story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That book is and must be regarded as entertainment and not any serious matter.

    Any additional comments?

As a genuine Harlan Coben fan, in my humble opinion Coben's old books are much better than his latest. Probably because an increasing fame has limited his time for writing.

"More of a Prologue than a stand alone"

This book lays out the back story behind Myron's history with Jessica and the NBA, and has the usual surprise ending typical of the series, but the back story dilutes this book a bit. You have to read this book to appreciate the entire series, but it's far from the best one of the group.

Jonathan Marosz is great at reading this series. He defines the characters with his presentation.

"Good ole Myron didn't quite do it for me this tim"

I realized once I got into the story that I had read the book pre-Audible. Also realized I enjoyed reading it more. I've enjoyed listening to books previously read but the narration on this left me cold.

    "Sports mysteries, I am hooked."

Love the writing, how the mystery evolves and coupled with solid narration. Highly recommend the series. I do like sports and maybe that plays a part. But should be liked by all.

    "I'm hooked on this series"

I'd give 4.5 overall only because I guessed the killer but just a little before the great reveal. You get enough info about the characters to feel invested in them though I have to say my crush is on "Win."

Don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Trip's cool though. Use Audible to make gym-training sane... And rip my imagination.

"My Second Myron Bolitar. NOT MY LAST!"

HINT... start with the first in this series and work forward. Yeah, this stands on its own bottom, but it is part of engaging character development. Soooo.... This is a terrific adventure, but do yourself a favor... lookup they Myron Bolitar series and start at the beginning. And when you get to Fade Away... buy it... and enjoy. BTW... Jonathan Maorsz is a treat actors... Uh-huh... Know the grammar problem in that last statement... meant it. Marosz brings the entire cast to life. Keeps 'em all straight... So I could. Thanks.
