Publisher's summary

The “Prey” novels by Pulitzer prize-winning journalist John Sandford consistently make the best seller lists, but they are not for the faint of heart. Featuring Minneapolis Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, these thrillers are raw, graphic, and impossible to put down. In Eyes of Prey, a depressed and unfocused Davenport takes on a macabre case, tracking down a serial killer who maims the eyes of his victims after he has murdered them.

Davenport is the coolest cop ever!

the story was way too gruesome!! really could have reared back on all the horrible unpleasant details of the murders.

Lucas Davenport, #1 reason to move to Minnesota!

Where does Eyes of Prey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Easily top 2 or 3. Lucas Davenport, John Corey & Jack Reacher are always 1-2-3!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Edge of my seat ... and standing up! Clever, convoluted plot ... strangers on a train ... and WHO is Loverboy?!

What about Richard Ferrone’s performance did you like?

Richard Ferrone IS the voice of Lucas Davenport. I think he must enjoy reading them as much as we enjoy listening.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Lucas hanging on to all he holds dear ... while his guns are calling him from the basement.

Any additional comments?

This is a tremendous series that everyone should add to their wish lists.

One of the best

The author and narrator combination were very good in this book. This is one of Sanfords best.

Each books makes me want to read the next one

The more I listen/read the Lucas Davenport series, the more I like them and get excited for the next one in the series. In book 3, the author does a great job of showing us the effects of the events from Book 2 has on Lucas’ life and Sanford also does a good job of letting us see a cop on the edge dealing with some emotional turmoil. It was great to watch Davenport fight for his sanity and get excited about a case again. One of the highlights for me though was getting to know Lucas’ partners Dell and Sloan. Both are very different and have unique relationships with Lucas.

The mystery was very intriguing and I like how the author didn’t hide the answer from the readers. The best part of the book was watching Lucas solve the case and see how his brain thinks. The killers are deadly and you can see how each one of them reasons through their actions. The ending was mind blowing and leaves the reader itching for the next book.

My only problem with the book and I hope this isn’t too much of a spoiler for folks but in every book so far, the women in Lucas’ life is put into danger. This is becoming a cliché and if it continues is going to draw the series’ quality down for me.

Loved this book

I have been a fan of the Prey Books for years now and I being the reader that I am found that I was spending many hours driving for work now and decided to try audible as a way to kill two birds with one stone. I finally decided to read the Prey Books in order and started buying them as I read them for my Kindle. So that being said I read the first two and since I couldn't spend the time reading anymore like I use too, picked this as the first to listen to and I wasnt disappointed. From the moment I started I was transported to the fictional story of Lucas Davenport and instead of dreading my drive time found myself soaring through the hours wanting to keep listening as I came to my destination. I am a full time sheriff deputy and love this book because not that it's written the way things are done in policework but because it's the way many of us wish we could do it. Who doesn't want to be a rich detective who works for the love of it and sleeps with whoever crosses your path and outsmarting the evil villain's. I highly recommend this book and loved the characters lucas battles. I still love Certain Prey the best but this book comes close. You won't be disappointed.
