Publisher's summary

Mitch Rapp and his protege, Mike Nash, may have met their match. The CIA has detected and intercepted two terrorist cells, but a third is feared to be on the loose. Led by a dangerous mastermind obsessed with becoming the leader of al-Qaeda, this determined and terrifying group is about to descend on America.

Rapp needs the best on this assignment, and Nash, who has served his government honorably for 16 years first as an officer in the Marine Corps and then as an operative in an elite counterterrorism team run by Rapp is his choice. Together, they have made careers out of meeting violence with extreme violence and have never wavered in the fight against the jihadists and their culture of death. Both have fought the war on terrorism in secret without accolades or acknowledgment of their personal sacrifices. Both have been forced to lie to virtually every single person they care about, and both have soldiered on with the knowledge that their hard work and lethal tactics have saved thousands of lives.

But the political winds have changed in America, and certain leaders on Capitol Hill are pushing to have men like Rapp and Nash put back on a short leash. And then one spring afternoon in Washington, DC, everything changes.

Using his insider knowledge of intelligence agencies and the military, Flynn once again delivers an all-too-real portrayal of a war that is that is waged every day by a handful of brave, devoted souls. Smart, fast-paced, and jaw-droppingly realistic, Extreme Measures is the political thriller of our time.

Liberals...stay away

I love the Mitch Rapp character and the narrater George Guidall is great. This is my third listen in a row to Mitch Rapp stories and they are all excellent. The tough-guy, get it done no matter what and the heck with the politicians theme is refreashing. For those that enjoy this type of novel, also take a look at Daniel Silva novels with the Gabriel Allon character...they too are great.

Are you sure Vince Flynn wrote this?

This is my 11th book in the Mitch Rapp series. The other ten I rated 5 stars. This one literally doesn’t seem like the same author. It’s just ok. The action is a notch down, the politics are a notch up, and it was like he wanted to paint everyone as either Left wing or Right wing. Hopefully the next one I’ll read (Pursuit of Honor) will be back to his norm.

This was one of my favorite Mitch Rapp stories. Gets into the heart of terrorism and our politics issues.

Great Action Listening of a Superb Book

Would you listen to Extreme Measures again? Why?

Already have; several times. A second or third listening for greater understanding of situations and characters.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Very much so. There are cliff hangers at the end of each chapter for that "edge of the seat" intense. Very effective method to keep listening on.

What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?

His reading with slight voice changes for characters in the book. He did an excellent read.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. The way nefarious things go on in Washington as a matter of fact.

Any additional comments?

Just a book that is very worthy of your listening.

One of the best

Another Mitch Flynn with a wonderful addition of Mike Nash coming out. I found the story of Mike even more engrossing than Mitch. Please don't call me a traitor Mitch is still my main man, but Mikes back story tugs at you as only a man with a family can. Loved every minute. The ending is immensely satisfying which is very important to me. Many a good book has been ruined (in my opinion) by a cliffhanger or sad ending. I love Vince and Mitch and now can add Mike to the combo. Get this volume it's well worth the credit and the time.

More of a political thriller than we are used to with Rapp

Nash, who has never been mentioned before, has more time in this book than Rapp. It is mostly about the inner workings of politics, but still in line with terrorist threats.

vynce flynn does it again...

I really enjoyed this book, even though it was a cliffhanger and a continuation at the end. sometimes I think that Vince line gets tired of riding that's why these books are so short. you can definitely put part one and two together to be an excellent novel. Either way this book is absolutely perfect. Mitch Rapp outwits Senators for the win

Mitch Rapp just keeps getting better

This is #11 in the Mitch Rapp series and I keep thinking there is no way they can get any better. Somehow they do. At least this one is better that any of the first 10 in the series. Once again Rapp is facing terrorists already in America planning to wreak havoc on American society and, at the same time, he's fighting the political battles with Washington elitists who believe that Mitch should be arrested for his actions. They forget that Mitch is on their side. The last 1/3 of the book gets extremely exciting with Mitch trying to run down whether there really is another terrorist group and, if so, where they are planning to attack. He nearly comes unglued when he discovers that Washingtonians may be feeding terrorists the exact classified information they need to be able to complete their mission. With the help of another CIA operative, he is able to turn a little intelligence garnered from an interrogation into exactly what he needs to stop the terrorists. The ending will make you immediately want to grab the next one in the series when one Senator sees the light and wants Rapp to go after the reposnsible people. I have already started #12 and it moves so smoothly into the series you think you are still listening to the same book. The terrorists are even the same ones. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series to anyone who enjoys a really good thriller.
