Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Kellerman writes unforgettable tales of crime and detection that expose the shadowy side of glittering Los Angeles. And in Evidence, listeners are once again in the dexterous grip of a master storyteller and stylist equally skilled at teasing your brain and taking your breath away.In the half-built skeleton of a monstrously vulgar mansion in one of L.A.’s toniest neighborhoods, a watchman stumbles on the bodies of a young couple–murdered in flagrante and left in a gruesome postmortem embrace.

Though he’s cracked some of the city’s worst slayings, veteran homicide cop Milo Sturgis is still shocked at the grisly sight: a twisted crime that only Milo’s killer instincts–and psychologist Alex Delaware’s keen insights–can hope to solve. While the female victim’s identity remains a question mark, her companion is ID’d as eco-friendly architect Desmond Backer, who disdains the sort of grandiose superstructure he’s found dead in. And the late Mr. Backer, it’s revealed was also notorious for his power to seduce women. The rare exception is his ex-boss, Helga Gemein, who’s as indifferent to Desmond’s death as she apparently was to his advances.

Though Milo and Alex place her on their short list of suspects, the deeper they dig for clues the longer the list grows. An elusive prince who appears to harbor decidedly American appetites, an eccentric blueblood with an ax to grind, one of Desmond’s restless ex-lovers and her cuckolded husband–all are in the homicidal mix spiced with eco-terrorism, arson, blackmail, conspiracy, and a vendetta that runs deep. But when the investigation veers suddenly in a startling direction, it’s the investigators who may wind up on the wrong end of a cornered predator’s final fury.

Maybe my last Kellerman

This Jonathan Kellerman novel confirmed for me that the downhill slide that I started perceiving a few books ago has quickened its pace, and in fact has outpaced my loyalty to this author. The characters, most notably Alex Delaware, bear only a slight and feeble resemblance to their original selves. The premise for the involvement of Delaware, a clinical child psychologist, in Los Angeles murder detectives, spurious. He, Milo, and Robin, once robust and interesting characters, are now just names in a routine police procedural. Hasta la vista, Jonathan!

Characters

I really did not like this book, it was slow and the characters had almost no likability.

Not so Hot

Love the Alex Delaware novels, but this one was way off the usual quality. The story was boring... so boring that John Rubinstein (an awesome narrator for this series) couldn't keep track of the plot... It was have been more interesting listening to someone read the case file. No psychological thrill.

Can't even finish it

Narrator was good thats, tbe best I can say about this book. The story was boring, lacked the psychological component typical of this writer and put me to sleep. I have, all the novels in order but I'm going to return this one.

Disappointed in Del Mar

Couldn't decide if it was the author, the narrator or both that made this book such a bore. My mind kept drifting off as I listened to it, and I had a difficult time discerning which character -Milo or Alex- was "doing the talking". I finished the book, but really thought twice about whether it was worth doing so.

What a disappointment!

Let me just say how much I love John Rubinstein as a narrator. My bad review has nothing to do with him.

Jonathan Kellerman is one of my favorite authors, and I love the characters of Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis. As for this book however, I was sorely disappointed. In my opinion, his last couple books have failed to live up to my expectations. The plot of his latest Delaware book was lacking in mystery and intrique, and missing the twists previously common in this series. It just never seemed to go anywhere! I usually can't turn his books off (or put them down if I'm reading it); this one (and unfortunatly the last couple books, too) I actually had to struggle to get through. The dynamics betw. Alex and Milo felt unusually boring, too. The friendly ball busting that makes them so much fun was completely missing.

I really hope Kellerman can get back on track and come up with some new and exciting plots. I feel this one was a total waste of money.
