Publisher's summary

After 10 years of cleaning up the dirt on Atlanta's streets, Callahan Garrity is trading in her badge for a broom and a staff of house cleaners. But, though the uniform is a little different, Callahan soon finds herself right back in the middle of a mystery when a client's pretty, pious 19-year-old nanny is gone...along with the jewelry, silver, and a few rather sensitive real estate documents.

Before she knows it, the meticulous Callahan is up to her elbows in a case involving illicit love triangles, crooked business deals, long-distance scams, and a dead body. Now she has to roll up her sleeves and start some industrial strength sleuthing to solve - and survive - this mess.

Laughs/Suspense - Kept me reading!

It took a little time to adjust to southern speech. Once I got the rhythm, I really enjoyed listening. The characters were terrific, each in their own way.

The book was not of my usual reading yet it was good.

Portrayed Mormons in a ridiculous and inaccurate manner

As a Mormon from Atlanta I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The book is definitely fiction. In my 33 years living in Atlanta I’ve never hear the N word. The narrator sounds like she is from the Midwest pronouncing the L in “DeKalb” and “kudzu” like the Japanese. Seriously, get your facts straight.

Too much bad language

The “GD” word is used too much in many books but then I make it to chapter 15 and the descriptive term used for a black person is too much! I am not black and live in the south and I could not listen to that. Did not finish and I normally live Mary Kay Andrew books🥺

So glad to find another great fun series!

What did you love best about Every Crooked Nanny?

Light! Fun! Interesting characters, and a mystery to solve.

Any additional comments?

I think the narrator really helps to make the story for me. In just the first few minutes I knew I was really going to enjoy this book because I loved the narrator. The characters are fun, if a little gritty, but I like that and now I have another wonderful series of books to look forward to!

Fun cozy mystery style

I liked the story and the characters. There’s was some oddities in the writing. Some moments that felt telling rather than showing. I got attached to the characters. I’ll probably read more of the series. Good brain candy pallet cleanser after more intense reads. The voices the narrator used for the characters in the Audible version were a bit distracting. #cozymystery #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Good writer, great narrator

I liked the story very much, and this narrator can't be topped. I did not like even the occasional goddamns

good southern characters

Good, mildly complex mystery story with good characters. I am from Georgia and felt like I have met most of the characters in the book. The narration lacks a little to be desired, however. The narrator has a pleasant voice, and a few of her characters were almost dead-on, almost exactly how I would expect the voice and accent of that person to sound. Mostly, though, she spoke too slowly and enunciated too precisely to sound like any normal person anywhere, southern or otherwise. I don't know if this was the fault of the narrator or the director, but it was very annoying. Not annoying enough to prevent me from enjoying the listen, but I would've enjoyed it a lot more if the narration had been better.

Great Light Reading

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and will look for others by this author for lighter reading. ATLANTA -- Yaaay something other than NYC.

Her style reminds me of Sue Grafton (A is for Alibi, etc.) or Janet Evanovich. The narrator, Hillary Huber, I've heard before and is FANTASTIC here as well.

Only slight problem is I had 2017 expectations for a book it turns out was written 2004 (under Kathy Hogan Trocheck). Thus I was left wondering why the woman didn't have her cell phone and how the surveillance cameras didn't catch.... Much the reason I stopped reading Grafton as much as I enjoyed the setting of her books as well.

G.R.I.T.S.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would and have recommended Mary Kay Andrews books for my southern girl friend. The mystery is great and living on the Pacific Coast I find the voice of Huber so soothing. I plan on listening to every one of her books. Thank You Mary Kay Andrews.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Not really, but I did find myself attaching my Kindle to my back brace while working in the garden..

Have you listened to any of Hillary Huber’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Her voice is like home made butter....

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

House Mouse revenge.

Any additional comments?

I read her second book before the first. I am now on the third. Keep writing Mary Kay
