Publisher's summary

October 1945: The Germans and Japanese have surrendered. For Cletus Frade and his colleagues in the OSS, it should be time to pack up - but they have far more important things to do.

Chief among them is the protection of their assets, especially the human ones. In the closing months of the war, the United States made a secret deal with the head of German intelligence’s Soviet section. In exchange for a treasure trove of intelligence - in particular the identity of the Soviet spies in the U.S. atomic bomb program - his people would be spirited to safety in Argentina. Only a handful of people know about it. If word got out, all hell would break loose, and the U.S. would lose some of its most valuable sources and secrets.

Meanwhile, in Argentina, a U-boat captain pops up out of the blue and surrenders his submarine and crew. And in the American Zone of Occupation in Germany, a young counterintelligence agent pursues an unusual assignment perhaps a little too vigorously. The consequences of both actions will affect not only Frade and company, but everything they’re working on.

Now things are really going to get complicated.

Filled with the special flair that Griffin’s fans have come to expect from him, Empire and Honor is another rousing adventure from one of our finest storytellers.

it's a great book

This is a great novel, has all the characters you might expect, although I got a little confused, because it seemed like part of the book was repeating things already read in a couple different novels in the series but all in all, I find the book riveting fast pace, and gotta give kudos to the orator..love the way he reads a book.

I gave it five stars

Good narration and story. One of the most fun of griffins books. Introduces Jimmy Crowley as a character who appears in the rest of this series.

This is the best of the series

After you spend the time to weave through the rest of Col Frade's life from being a Marine wildcat ace in the Pacific to his cover of being an SAA pilot, you finish off the series with this nice piece of work. It is the best of the series. It does get a little tiring hearing about the authors seemingly bit of preoccupation with Eva Peron's skankiness, but once that is over, the book is very entertaining. Well worth the listen.

Another in a great line of quality work

If you could sum up Empire and Honor in three words, what would they be?

This is another great work and creative extension to a series I thought might have ended. Instead, we have much life left in these character we enjoy.

better than others and a good follow up

What did you love best about Empire and Honor?

love is the wrong word. good book, better than others, and i like the fact he has added some new characters.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

no, but it does roll along rapidly. i do get tired of listening to all the kissy kiss lovey dovey crap he constantly writes into his books.
editor sucks, but i am into WEBG books for decades and they are good series.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

only the WEBG books. I don't really like his narration but he is less aggravating than that Dove guy.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

yea, i wanted to skip chapters or sections when they are intimate. its not pron but it gets old after a while

Any additional comments?

if you are into the WEBG series' yea it's worth your time.
if not, get the first one in the series first.

Ended too abruptly

Much of the story rehashed or actually rewritea events that took place in earlier books

Good and solid

Would you consider the audio edition of Empire and Honor to be better than the print version?

Tough to compare when I bought audio version to listen to on way to work.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

As with all other W.E.B Griffin series his mastery of weaving historical facts within his fictional settings was superb.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Scott brick is very enjoyable, one of the best.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but the wife kept interrupting.

Any additional comments?

My only complaint is the abrupt ending, which leads to the probable next book in this series.
