Stephanie Plum is thinking her career as a fugitive apprehension agent has run its course. She's been shot at, spat at, cussed at, fire-bombed, mooned, and attacked by dogs. Time for a change, Stephanie thinks. Time to find the kind of job her mother can tell her friends about without making the sign of the cross.

So Stephanie Plum quits. Resigns. No looking back. No changing her mind. She wants something safe and normal. As it turns out, jobs that are safe and normal for most people aren't necessarily safe and normal for Stephanie Plum. Trouble follows her, and the kind of trouble she had at the bail bonds office can't compare to the kind of trouble she finds herself facing now. Her past has come back to haunt her. She's stalked by a maniac returned from the grave for the sole purpose of putting her into a burial plot of her own. He's killed before, and he'll kill again if given the chance. Caught between staying far away from the bounty hunter business and staying alive, Stephanie reexamines her life and the possibility that being a bounty hunter is the solution rather than the problem. After disturbingly brief careers at the button factory, Kan Klean Dry Cleaners, and Cluck-in-a-Bucket, Stephanie takes an office position in security, working for Ranger, the sexiest, baddest bounty hunter and businessman on two continents. It might not be the job she'll keep for the rest of her life, but for now it gives her the technical access she needs to find her stalker. Tempers and temperatures rise as competition ratchets up between the two men in her life---her on-again, off-again boyfriend, tough Trenton cop Joe Morelli, and her bad-ass boss, Ranger. Can Stephanie Plum take the heat? Can you?

Between the adventure and the adversity there's attitude, and Stephanie Plum's got plenty in her newest misadventure from Janet Evanovich, Eleven on Top.

Hooked!

Lord, I can't explain why but I'm hooked on these characters. Maybe it's because they are so colorful that they're a pleasant break from the average detective/murder mystery that I've been reading. Because COLORFUL is truly what they are! You will laugh out loud at some of the almost slapstick comedy that comes out of this reading. I especially enjoy the characterization of Lulu - the feisty ex-prostitute/new bounty hunter. She is a constant party waiting to happen...

Hats off also to the narrator. The characters are quite well-read. No boredom here! No sireeeeeeee....

Stephanie just gets better!

After having read (with my eyes) the past 10 Stephanie Plum books, I was a little nervous about what kind of voices and dialect I'd find in an audible book. Could they really capture the right tone in Ranger's, "Babe"? I was thrilled with the reading and thoroughly enjoyed the story line. It's hard to believe, but Stephanie just keeps getting better!

another win

I stared the Stephanie Plum with number 18 and have enjoyed them all. After I was finished with the most recent I went back and started with One for the Money and I am headed back to 18. The characters are funny and original. The store lines keep my attention. Every book makes me laugh out loud!

A favourite!

The laughs come fast and furious in this one. Definitely one of my favourites. I don't think the author interviews at the end of some of the books add anything though and almost took away a star for that!

Stephanie as a Rangeman

I love that Stephanie goes to work for Ranger. Ranger decks her out to a mini-him and Joe has to deal with it. How those two men co-exist in her world is surprising.
It cracked me up on Stephanie's sugar addiction and her substitution when she quits,
This one was one of my favorites.

Best Stephanie Plum so far

I laughed more at this book than I have in a long time. Evanovich and C.J. Crit are a great team.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!

I'm so sad to have finished this eleventh in the Stephanie Plum series. You see, I went to Janet Evanovich's book signing a year ago for #10 having never read any of her books. I had heard she was a great author and thought I'd show up for the party and get a copy. They handed out index cards with either "Joe" or "Ranger" on them. I didn't even know who they were! After hearing all the people in line rave about Janet Evanovich, I decided that I needed to start at the beginning. Since July 2004, I have listened to all 11 books unabridged, except for Seven Up which until recently, was only available in abridged form.
I have lived with and gotten to know Stephanie, Joe, Ranger, Lulu, Grandma Mazer and all the characters for a whole year...and now, I've finished. Janet, please hurry up with #12!
I highly recommend this series. Sure, you can listen in any order as you'll still be laughing so hard, you'll have to pull your car over...but I recommend listening in order even if you can only find the abridged versions.
Thank you Janet for a wonderful series. Will she ever choose a man to marry?
