"Superior crime fiction, as suspenseful as it is psychologically acute." (Booklist)
"Smooth prose and plausible characters, even the secondary figures, elevate this several notches above the standard cop vs. serial-killer thriller." (Publishers Weekly)
Michael Connelly remains at the top. He is consistently one of the best selling mystery authors for a reason. The narration is very good. This is how a mystery should be written with numerous twists and red herrings. Connelly is the best at describing the cop world with all the associated conflicts. Harry conducts himself beyond what most cops would do in similar situations. You must understand Harry. You must understand this is a work of fiction. I never lost interest despite having read the book a year ago. Listen to the entire book before you make judgment.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Having grew up in L.A., and working in the areas this book takes place, this book was absolutely dead on. Bosch was a bit bravado, but that's Harry. His story had me guessing who, and how. If you are a Connelly fan, or not, you'll love this book if police mysteries are your taste.
Harry Bosch is one of my favorites. I throughly enjoyed this book. Guess I could never be dissappointed in one of Michael's books. I must "listen" in my opinion.
Echo Park was a very entertaining book. I've read all of Michael Connelly's books and they've all been engaging and fun. I would certainly recommend this book.
I’m very surprised by the negative reviews listed for this book. I thought it was one of the best audio books I have ever listened to. It has a fantastic twisting plot, classic characters and a great narrator in Len Cariou who has a wonderful deep voice that perfectly suits Harry Bosch. I’m glad I didn’t read these reviews before I downloaded it as it would have put me off a great book.
I usually enjoy Michael Connelly but found this recent book to be a chore to listen to.
I listen to audiobooks on my iPod while I walk nightly. I think the problem with this particular book is the actor/reader. He sounds as if he's spitting on the microphone. All the "s" and "f" starting words sound , well, like he's losing saliva while reading aloud.
The key to a good audio book is that the reader keeps your interest. I found myself wondering off in unrelated thought many times throughout this book and finally just wanting for it to be over quickly.
This had to be one of the best books (if not the best) of the series. Great twists and turns and continued development of the main characters along lines consistent with the earlier works. Bravo!
The Harry Bosch series are the best. Hope they never end.
I read this book in 1 day couldn't put it down.
Excellent read recommend highly. Love the reader he actually makes the character come to life.
