"Dick Francis comes up trumps again!"
If you've read any of my other reviews, you will realise I am a terrific Dick Francis fan. This is another of my favourites. Freddy Croft is a good boss and a conscientious businessman, holding together a difficult enterprise at the best of times, and continuing to do so when disaster heaps upon disaster. His steady and likeable character rises to the occasion with each threat to his livelihood, his family and friends, and ultimately, his life. The denouement is a delight, as always.
I particularly enjoyed the Cockney rhyming slang element to this story, which was great fun, and added an extra element of mystery in an intriguing way.
Do read this book. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
