Publisher's summary

“Like a breath of fresh air blowing across all crime-novel conventions, there is Dexter.” —Time

Dexter Morgan is not your average serial killer. He enjoys his day job as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department . . . but he lives for his nighttime hobby of hunting other killers. Dexter is therefore not pleased to discover that someone is shadowing him, observing him, and copying his methods. Dexter is not one to tolerate displeasure . . . in fact, he has a knack for extricating himself from trouble in his own pleasurable way.

Like the previous five best-selling novels in the Dexter series, Double Dexter showcases the witty, macabre originality that has propelled Jeff Lindsay to international success. Double Dexter is raucously entertaining . . . full of smart suspense and dark laughs.

For Dexter fans only.

Dexter continues his exploits with this new addition. If you liked the previous Dexter books, you will enjoy this too.

Not the best Dexter book

Dexter is a great character and I was anxious to read more of his adventures. The main plot is interesting and intriguing enough, but the author gets caught up to much into showing Dexter's mundane life as a family man. I read all the other Dexter books and thought that this one is a clear decline.

Gotta Love Devilishly Delusive Dexter

Jeff Lindsay is back with a great story. After Dexter by Design I thought the series was a goner. But then Mr. Lindsay offered up Dexter is Delicious - another treat! And now, with Double Dexter, Dexter's back in the game as an enduring, unlikely and delishously deviant hero.

Disappointing Dexter - a relative term

I have loved the Dexter series and was expecting Dexter to go out with a BIG BANG. I have to believe we haven't seen the end of Dexter....Dexter will begin the Dexter Code for Cody and Aster. What a great new direction for a new series to move. How about it?

Not the best Dexter storey

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I like the Dexter TV show and I have listened to all the books. I like them, they are entertaining but this isn't the best of the 5.

Which character – as performed by Jeff Lindsay – was your favorite?

Rita...I love...well...she talks...well...oh...lol...I like the way she talks!!!

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes

Dexter is human???

This wasn't the best of the "Dexter" books - but it wasn't bad. There might have been a few times when Dexter was uncharacteristically oblivious to certain tell-tale signs that he was about to get busted - but, I can see how the author needed some plot twists. Still, they were a bit too obvious. However, overall, it was very entertaining. The audiobook version, which was read by the author himself, was very well done. We're now starting to see a "near-human" side of Dexter, and that is actually sort of refreshing. And I like how the books almost completely diverge from the television show. But, the author is going to have to step it up a bit if he hopes to stay a edgy and clever as the show! Gauntlet down!

As with the others, enjoyed the latest Dexter novel

Liked seeing Dexter evolving as a character and enjoyed the story. Dexter hasn't disappointed so far! The cat and mouse game in the story was fun, but I wondered if Dexter wasn't deviating from his strict adherence to Harry's code in the beginning when he planned on killing his witness from the get go. Still, it all turned out well in the end. As for all the complaints about Lindsay's narration - are all you folks paid by Nick Landrum to belly ache? Enough already. I liked Landrum as well, but Lindsay is a decent narrator too. Listen to the story, or if you can't get beyond the narrator, try reading the book instead so that you can get back to enjoying the series.

It's good, but not great

I have been a big fan of the TV show, and now a fan of the books. I am annoyed how clean cut no nonsense Dexter is always doubting clearly obvious things, and how from book to book it's clear that if anyone is ever following him... he'll just say it's coincidence and he's being paranoid... good books but getting annoyingly painful for these stupid details.

Our favorite killer of killers is back!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Dexter is an acquired taste. He is, after all, a serial killer, and even as a killer of killers, it's not for everyone. It's also not a series to just jump into (it really helps to have an understanding of the characters and their thought processes). It also doesn't help to just watch the TV show, since the books have their own storyline (and since several characters from the TV are dead in the books, and some that are dead in the TV show are alive in the books). But if you liked the previous Dexter books, you will LOVE this one.

What about Jeff Lindsay’s performance did you like?

He knows his character, and as he is reading the thought process that Dexter has, you really believe that it is Dexter himself telling you his story, not just the author reading the book.

Any additional comments?

Well worth it!
