    "Done With Stone..."

Fool me three times and I'm done. after years of loving this series I gave it one more shot after last two duds. mistake. Either someone else is now writing the books, or someone else SHOULD be. No charm, no point, and embarrassing focus on conspicuous consumption of jets, hangars, luxury goods that made me cringe. Tragic whimper of an end to a once beloved series. Keep your happy memories of early Stone Barrington. (Tony Roberts' narration wonderful as always - is he ageless?? Which just made me sadder) a cynical return to a now-dry well...

"All wrapped up in a neat little bow..."

I have always enjoyed this series and this was better than the last two. But it is becoming a little annoying to have everything always perfect. The kids are perfect. The women are perfect. Stone is perfect. Even real rich people aren't this perfect. I'd love to see the old Stone again.....the non rich one on the edge of the society page. Accepted by the beautiful people without actually being one of them. Tony Roberts was excellent as usual. Good to see Teddy back. I always liked that character. But this time even Teddy was perfect!

Audible started me reading fiction again. What a treat to have professional actors narrating a book I may not have had the time to "read".

    "Entertaining,unexpected twists and turns."

One of the better Stuart Woods(Stone Barrington) efforts. He left the bedroom scenes up to our imaginations for which I am grateful. He writes fun ,entertaining detective stories and Tony Roberts is a brilliant narrator. I must admit I would enjoy more New York and more Gino. If some of you were disappointed in the ("hack writing") your words, not mine, I suggest you try a different genre. Perhaps the writings of Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky. I have enjoyed these authors as well. With Stuart Woods you know in advance you are in for entertaining escapism. No more,no less. Pick your favorite genre and enjoy!

"I like a good Stone Barrington book"

So I have seen that some audio readers don't care for the Stuart Woods' Stone Barrington series. So I thought I should explain why I gave it 5 stars. I like the performance as well from Tony Roberts - he's been doing it for so long that if another narrator it wouldn't do the series justice . I give my star ratings based on the other books in the series. I don't rate it against other mysteries by ... say ... John Grisham or Michael Connolly. It is a simple nice fun series. Nothing too serious but enjoyable. This one brings back many characters all at once - and that's why I liked it.

    "Still an excellent story"
What made the experience of listening to Doing Hard Time the most enjoyable?

The reader makes things flow so easily and keeps you engaged.

Have you listened to any of Tony Roberts’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He's one of the best. I will be looking for others

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to but listen in the car so it's broken up. The author and reader keep you engaged so you can leave and come back.

Would you listen to Doing Hard Time again? Why?

    Mos def!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dino is and always will be my favorite!

What does Tony Roberts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Since I've become accustom to his voice I now have pictures in my head for all the characters voices.

    "The Worst Stuart Woods EVER"

Don't waste your time or money. They buy expensive cars and planes and whatever they want and live in luxury and now Teddy is the good guy and the good guys win with no problem and who cares? No surprises. No mystery. No excitement. No drama. Nothing. It should be a new genre in literature. Awful. I'm embarrassed that I got sucked into buying this nonsense.

    "Terrific read."
Where does Doing Hard Time rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is one of the best Stuart Woods has written.

What did you like best about this story?

There were several different stories going on at the same time.

Which character – as performed by Tony Roberts – was your favorite?

    His son.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

How to make a movie and diversity at the same time.

    "Yeah for Teddy Fay."
What did you like best about this story?

This was the best Stone Barrington I have listened to in awhile. The last have seem fairly absurd with the plot lines. Not that this one isn't a bit far-fetched at times, but the reintroduction of Teddy Fay made the intrigue more engaging.
