Dixie City Jam | [James Lee Burke]

Dixie City Jam

They're out there, under the salt: the bodies of German seamen who used to lie in wait at the mouth of the Mississippi for unescorted American tankers sailing from the oil refineries of Baton Rouge out into the Gulf of Mexico. As a child, Dave Robicheaux had been haunted by the sailors' images. Years later, Robicheaux, a detective with the New Iberia sheriff's office, finds himself and his family at serious risk, stalked for his knowledge of a watery burial ground by a mysterious man.

Hopelessly addicted to Audio Books! I started listening as a distraction to the aggravation of driving, now I listen all the time :)

    "Best of the Abridged"

Of all the abridged novels by JLB, this one is the best I have listened to so far.

Of course the issues with this book are the same as the other abridged editions. It should be a crime to publish a JLB novel in an abridged version. I wish Audible would replace all of them with Unabridged.

The end product of the abridgement is that the story is choppy and has many holes riddled throughout.

I REEEEALLLY wish this one were unabridged. I think it would have been terrific!

Very slow start. Not my favorite.
