Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Nora Roberts dazzles once again with a powerful tale of passion, murder, and small-town scandal. In this classic novel, a woman returns to the home she left behind, to a past that is waiting to kill her....

A decade ago, sculptor Clare Kimball fled Emmitsboro, Maryland, to take the art world by storm. Now she’s celebrated as the artist of her generation. But no amount of success can eclipse the nightmares that haunt her - or the memories of her father’s suicide. Just as her star is shining brighter than ever, Clare leaves it all behind to face her demons.

Emmitsboro sheriff Cameron Rafferty loved Clare from afar all through high school. Now that she’s back, they form a bond that grows stronger each day - fueled by an attraction that’s been simmering for years. But Clare’s past soon rises up with a vengeance, rocking the town with a sinister murder that is clearly linked to her return.

As an investigation gets under way, Clare and Cameron will learn that evil can linger anywhere - even in those you love and trust the most. But it’s a discovery that may come too late to save them....

Spellbibding

Spellbinding and terrifying from beginning to end. It was a story so well told but so dark. I can usually predict where a story is going and while I figured some of the pieces in advance, there were even more twists I did not anticipate.

Not for the faint of heart but a story masterfully told.

Blah, Blah, and more Blah!

'Devine Evil' was a complete rendition of 'The Witness' with different characters and a very similar setting, I just suffered through this book. The ending wasn't that great either. I hope I can read more by Nora Roberts and it will be much better. I just feel like the author was trying to meet a deadline and there just wasn't much thought being placed on the pages. I know I am rambling, but come on Nora give me that WoW effect! The narrator was fair, but I feel that maybe a couple of people could have been used one for the male voices.

Keeps you going begining to end.

Would you listen to Divine Evil again? Why?

Yes I already have. Had to listen to it again with my daughter. Was great to watch her reaction. still thrilling the second time around.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Divine Evil?

The action at the end. Didn't know which way it would go. Such a suprise when Ernie came through and almost gave his life to save her.

Which scene was your favorite?

When she found out that her dreams were actually real. Also when she discovered that Doc was in on it. That was totally un expected.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I laughed and cried and got mad and scared. About every emotion came out with this story.

Any additional comments?

Nora Roberts can keep you up at nights with her stories, hard to put her stories to bed.

What does Kimberly Farr bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator is good, I didn't really notice her which is a good sing. It means I could focus on the story.

A must read

I put off reading this book for months b/c of the title. After reading other reviews I decided to give it a try. Captivating from start to finish! The saying, "you can't judge a book by its cover" is true on so many fronts and most applicable with this story. The story touched/reflected life on a number of perspectives, good bad and ugly. Ms Farr was amazing! Another job well done Ms Roberts!! RKB in TX

Enjoyed It

Another good book from Nora Roberts. I've just read a few of her books and wanted to hear this one since it was not a romance. Contains lots of action, interesting characters, and a good story. Excellent reader.

great read...

I listened to this book every evening during a 200 mile hike. Sometimes it was so interesting I didn't want to turn off the iPod and go to sleep.

The narrator had a pleasant voice and was able to successfully make the change from one character to another.

The story was interesting and exciting.

not quite evil enough

It was all right. The head jumping was unnerving, and the characters were a bit too cute while the story tried to be dark and never really got there. I did enjoy the ending, but this isn't really one I'd recommend.
