Publisher's summary

In this gripping novel of small-town scandal and sizzling passion, New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts tells the story of a renowned artist who confronts a mystery from her past—and finds that her family secrets have not been laid to rest.

Famed sculptor Clare Kimball has commanded the attention of the New York art world, but troubling memories from childhood have drawn her home to Maryland, to the town where she grew up and where her father died so long ago in circumstances never really explained. Nothing much has changed in Emmitsboro—except Cameron Rafferty, the onetime high school bad boy turned town sheriff. The only hint of Cam’s wild nature is the light in his eyes when he looks at Clare. In Cam’s strong arms Clare is seduced into falling in love—and believing that her small-town world is safe.

But within the dark woods of Emmitsboro, something evil is spreading its poisonous power. Now Clare must pay the price for digging up the secrets of the past . . . and confront an evil that may be unstoppable—because those who practice it believe it is divine.

Loved it from beginning to end!

If you could sum up Divine Evil in three words, what would they be?

Nora Roberts keeps giving us great novels

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

So many turns and twists. Keeps you wondering who did it?

What does Kimberly Farr bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices and inflections are wonderful. I don't think you can ever experience a book reading it as you can listening to a great narrator.

A nail biter!

While the story is not my usual fare( hooded figures and all) I was truly into the story from the minute it began.

Great story

Totally enjoyed the audio. It was a great who done it. I wish it had a better ending with the people they arrested and the young boy.

More Suspense than Romance

Would you consider the audio edition of Divine Evil to be better than the print version?

This is an older audio book, with the narrator presenting it as "Books on Tape." However, don't let that dissuade you. The narrator, Kimberly Farr, does an excellent job.

What other book might you compare Divine Evil to and why?

This is not so much a romance, but a suspense story with a little romance thrown in. If you are a fan of Robert's JD Robb series, then the graphic violence and satanism in the storyline will not bother you. I am a big fan of the JD Robb series, so I enjoyed this book very much.

What about Kimberly Farr’s performance did you like?

Good job with all the characters, both male and female.

Any additional comments?

Some reviewers have stated that this book is too graphic. Again, if you are looking for a typical romance, this is not your book. If you like Robert's suspense books (the Witness, the JD Robb series), then you will enjoy this one, too.

Keeps you on the edge

Listened to the entire thing in two days. It's a great one. Nora usually delivers. Just felt like it was missing some closure at the end, Claire's and Cams conversations about what happened. I won't go into detail so I don't spoil it. But I definitely felt the characters deserved a little more at the end.

A bit on the Fereaky Side

Let me start by saying that I am a huge Nora Roberts fan. I find her to be an excellent writer with deep plots and solid characters. This book does not fall short in any way. The reason for my 3 star rating on the story is the downright creepy scenes, and the way it ends. It is well written and well performed, however, the subject matter was somewhat disturbing, for me, in the amount of detail she goes in to. Others may find it just fine. This is personal preference issue. Since I hate reviews that spoil the plot, I won't say more than that.
