Critic reviews

“Furiously suspenseful.” (Kirkus Reviews)

“Lee Child’s knowledge of the modern military and its combat tactics amazed me. A chilling and all-too realistic story, and a damn good book.” (Steve Thayer)

interesting beginning

This book is the second in the series that I have listened too and it delivered an interesting outlook on militants view on the federal government.

Too much reality.

This novel explores what present day militias are doing, trying to overthrow legitimate American government and institutions. At risk of preaching, we need to be diligent.

Too many "He said" and "She said"

A pet peeve of mine and not the fault of the performer. But when a conversation is being held by two people it is pretty obvious who is saying what so the constant use of "He said" and "She said" got annoying. Past that a good story with some suspense added. Would make a good movie I think. Definitely worth the money.

This might be the best jack Reacher story yet

Incredibly engaging. The narrator is so good, especially with playing the different characters. I’m impressed, as usual.

Excitement in every chapter

The story had many twists and turns. You really get to know the characters and root for them or hope for a painful death!

Another Coincidental Start

Great story, but the premise of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time (for the second time now) is too unbelievable. Hard to accept that. But once you do, it's a fun story.

couldn't "put it down "

At the end of each chapter is a "hook" that grabs you to proceed on.

So thankful for a new narrator!

I enjoyed book 1 of this series but the narrator was AWFUL! So thankful for the change. Great story but a lot of technical stuff I could have done without.

Die Trying

I think the characters were well developed and the plot both current and believable. Child is an excellent story teller and the pace was always moving forward.
I would recommend this book to a variety of readers.
It is not the best book I have ever read, yet well above most.
