A Series You Can't Miss

Sookie Stackhouse Series is a MUST read! I have listened/read all of the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries, 1 - 8. I enjoyed every single one of them. The writing is good, clear, suspenseful and humorous. The narrator, Johanna Parker, does some of the best narrating I have heard...exactly the way I would presume Sookie Stackhouse would sound. You can't go wrong with this series. I CAN'T WAIT until installment NINE!!

More is revealed

Another great Sookie Stackhouse book. Some interesting things are revealed in this book pertaining to Sookie's relationship with Bill and Eric. The first part of the book was a little slow but it made up for it in the second half which was non-stop suspense and intrigue. Quinn has grown on me some in this book and Sookie is getting tougher.

Thank you Ms Parker

I've read & loved this series from the beginning & have enjoyed the development of Sookie from a fairly naive barmaid to a more street-savvy person. In this book, her smarts are quite apparent but so is her wide-eyed, small-town persona.

Johanna Parker's rendition of Sookie in this story as well as "Dead as a Doornail" is absolutely perfect. It is exactly as I imagined her to sound when I read the previous books. Ms Parker's voices for the other characters are also very good.

For me, this was thoroughly enjoyable translation from paper to voice. I look forward to listening to the next one.

Missing a huge chunk of the story...

As I am sure other people have written, the story was good and Johanna Parker was her usual awesome, but Charlaine left out a huge part of the story. It is covered in one of her Novellas and Sookie retraces most of the main parts of what happened with her cousin in Definitely Dead, but I dont understand why she didnt put it in this book. I was a little bit disappointed, but overall the story was good.

least favorite sookie book so far

Kind of lame. Kept my attention but not as much fun as previous 5 books. But I'm hooked, on to book 7, can't stop now!

Just a fun adventure

I enjoyed True Blood on HBO so while listening to this book I can see the characters in my mind. Its a fun ( very dark at times ) adventure of Sookie and her strange friends. A+. I am a Man over 40 and a Fan of Dark Shadows. If you like DS you will like this.

Not my style

I'm sure this book would appeal to people who enjoy reading about fabulously beautiful rich and famous people with expensive clothes and sharp, witty, shallow dialogue. If you like realistic likeable people in realistic settings, you might not enjoy this. I didn't.

Back To Usual Quality

The Famous Sookie Accent is back, tho Eric is hit&miss! Good story, if predictable as far as mystery; I was way ahead all through.. Quin was a real plus!

So long Cuz.

Sookie starts to date Quinn, and while I like him, he is no Erik. I can’t wait until he remembers what happened. Sookie goes to New Orleans’s and gets into more trouble. Pam of course is one of my favorite characters. I love her in both the books and the HBO TV series. Again, we get an increase in were and vampire politics. Narration is excellent.

Vampires & Wares???

I tried 4 or 5 times to listen to this because the description sounded interesting and the naration was good, but I just could not get into this whole vampire/warewolf/ thing. It would have made a good mystery without it, and I really don't think it should go in mysteries & thrillers without acknowledging that it is about the supernatural in the brief description.
