Deep Lie | [Stuart Woods]

Deep Lie

Sifting through reams of seemingly unrelated intelligence, CIA analyst Katherine Rule discovers a chilling pattern: an ultrasecret Baltic submarine base...a crafty Russian spy-master in command...a carefully planned invasion about to be launched from dark waters. Her suspicions, however, are dismissed by those higher up; her theory, they say, is too crazy to be true. But to Katherine, it’s just crazy enough to succeed - unless she can stop it. If she’s right, an attack sub has already penetrated friendly waters.

If she’s right, an attack sub has already penetrated friendly waters. Worse yet, the enemy has penetrated deep into her own life, so deep she can touch him. And in this game, one wrong touch can mean Armageddon.

    "Could not finish the book"

I have listened to many books and this was one of the most confusing. I think it went back and forth in time but I never knew when the transition happened. I lost interest but tried to continue listening. Finally just gave up.

    "Frequent Listener"

Not my favorite of the three Will Lee books I've listened to, however it adds the depth to the future books I'm sure the series needs. Looking forward to the next in the series, I like Stone, but I think I prefer this series.

I'm a crippeled old warrior with difficulty typing/writing etc. I used to love reading books, and have read many. I now love audio books.

"Great story line with detailed characterization."
What did you love best about Deep Lie?

Psychological depth of the characters, and the quick story line.

    Any additional comments?

I would suggest that the narration could be improved greatly by using both male and female narrators. Additionally, the references to very antiquated technology significantly dates the story. The constant technology comparisons taking place in the back of your head while listening to the story is disruptive to a degree that it actually corrupts the smooth flow of the story line.
