My favorite Tom Clancy book.

This is my favorite book in the series. This story really grabs this 80's army brat. I have listened to this story at least 3 times and when I don't have a new book this is is my drive home go to. The narrator's voice gives this book the correct weight. You won't regret the 25 + hours this book takes.

Great story, horrible narration

Almost like an artificial voice reading this book. Great story and can’t believe that this was the narration choice for this version.

Great story. Performance lacking.

I’m a Clancy fan. My wife and I are working through the Jack Ryan books on Audible. The performance of this book is somewhat flat; at times robotic. Several mispronunciations are noted as well. It’s still a good story, and the performance isn’t so bad to be painful. Performance doesn’t live up to previous books in the series.

Narrator puts you to sleep.

I loved the story, but the narration would make me sleepy in a few minutes. No emotion in his voice complete monotone.

bad narration

Great novel, as expected, but horrible narration. Pauses, or doesn't pause, at the wrong time. Definition of monotone.

Gotta love Tom Clancy!

Listen to it at 1.2x speed, much better that way. Not my favorite narrator. But! Another riveting Clancy novel!!!

Great story. The reader sounds very mechanical at times however.

Fantastic story that did not drag out lengthy details as bad as some other book earlier in the story line. My only issue was the narrator sounds almost artificial at times. In the beginning I actually had to look at the credits to make sure it wasn’t an AI engine reading. Besides sounding robotic here and there very well done on all fronts. Highly recommend.

Great story, less than great narration

The story is brilliantly told and is Tom Clancy at his best. The performance by the narrator starts off very mechanical. Like he was coached to talk as robotically as possible. The pacing is also odd. My advice is to play it at 1.5x for a better feel.

Narrator

The narrator is so monotone I was convinced it was a computer AI. Will never buy a book that he reads again.

Fantastic book… narration is tough

The reader is tough to get through. The book is fantastic. Classic Clancy, knocking it out of the park again. Excellent. The narration is not very good. I still recommend it because I think the story carries the narrator. It’s worth it.
