Publisher's summary

It took a while for Abby Coopers FBI agent boyfriend, Dutch Rivers, to accept her psychic gifts as the real deal. But these days he knows better than to question Abby's visions. So when his favorite cousin Chase is kidnapped in Vegas, they both catch the next flight to Sin City.

Abby's inner eye insists that Chase is still alive, but nothing else about the case adds up, especially Dutch's reluctance to involve his own Bureau. On top of everything, Dutch is battling a mysterious illness, and Abby keeps having disturbing dreams that predict his death. Dutch wants Abby to promise that if the investigation goes south, shell head home to safety. But when the chips are down, Abby wont fold without a fight.

Love it

I have read and listened to this series time after time.
Sometimes I feel that the narrator gets too goofy- but if you’ve ever talked to the writer herself (as I have through booking a reading), it’s clear that the narrator is likely reading it perfectly according to the way the author wrote it, which is really quite funny. This is one of my more favorite books because it has more twists, gets a tad edgy, and includes characters I never would have thought, like Cat.

Impressive Women Power

I throughly enjoy the narration of Elizabeth Micheals. This is the second book I have listened to of Victoria Lauries. I enjoyed both books and I will continue listening to them. I look forward to my next listen.

What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas

If you could sum up Death Perception in three words, what would they be?

Girls Kick Butt

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cat always cracks me up with her way over the top ways. I know I am not obeying the rules but I also loved Nora because her strength and grit are a surprise and Foxy because she seemed like some kind of character :-)

Fun and entertaining

This book was entertaining, action-packed and kept you turning pages. Abby and her friends get invovled in some silly hijinks in Vegas. This book has a fast pace that will keep you turning the pages to see what's going to happen next.

Always good

Always enjoy her books. I think this is the third or fourth time I’ve listened to
it.

Got it on sale.....You get what you pay for

I haven't read any of the other books and don't really plan to. Maybe I'm just not in the mood, but the narrator wasn't my cup of tea. So from the beginning I was struggling to ignore that. Even so, I stopped midway and gave up. Not wasting any more time if it doesn't hold my interest.

Poorly read and poorly written

What disappointed you about Death Perception?

"He said", "She said", "He said" over and over until I thought I was going to scream. The writing was completely second-rate. I rarely write bad reviews, but this one demanded it.

What was most disappointing about Victoria Laurie’s story?

I didn't even finish the book. It was so bad that I tossed it after about 2-1/2 hours. I often like supernatural oriented stories, if they have some charm and don't take themselves too seriously. "First Grave on the Left" (and series), "Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors" (and series), etc are great.

This one was just plain dull. Paired with the bad writing (see above) and bad reading (see below), it was not worth completing -- a rarity for me...

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator speaks in a single voice for all characters. She varies her voice just enough to avoid a monotone, but often pauses in inappropriate places, and gives no sense of character to anyone.

Not impressed

Up until now I have enjoyed this series. I found this book to be unbelievably boring with just the 3 girls running around doing nothing. It was a waste of time and money and not sure if I am going to read the next one. The other books were cute little mysteries and fun light reading, but this one was none of that. It is like the author was running out of ideas, but had to get a book out, so just kept writing anyway. To bad. I do want to give marks to the Narrator, but even she could not save this book.

Turned me off the series

What can I say other than I made 9 chapters into this book and it made me so mad that I stopped listening to it, returned it, and then returned all the books leading up to it. I'll say this: if you have the urge to write multiple characters that (1) belong to another race than you, and (2) ensure that everyone of that race speaks broken English that doesn't even read like people of that race speak, know that you're going to come off as racist.

Also, pro tip for narrators, don't do minority voices. If a writer writes minority dialogue, step back and know that you're going to sound like a racist jerk for voicing their thoughts.

I don't want to take the spot light off of how offensive I found the minority characters in this book, however, there were also just a crap ton of continuity errors. So there's that too. It's not enough to be a game changer, but if that bothers you, be prepared to say "wait but didn't she say...." about three times a chapter.
