Is the body found in the Ramble the first victim of a deranged psychopath, or are other missing women in years past whose remains have never been found connected to this savage attack? In her 14 best sellers, Linda Fairstein has enthralled millions of fans with her trademark style that infuses fascinating New York City history with breathtaking suspense. She continually creates some of the most authentic and compelling crime thrillers of our time thanks in part to her extensive experience as a New York City prosecutor.

With Death Angel, Fairstein takes listeners into the storied history of New York's Central Park as Assistant DA Alex Cooper and Detective Mike Chapman race to track down a serial killer before yet another young woman is found dead. Is the body found in the Ramble the first victim of a deranged psychopath, or are other missing women in years past whose remains have never been found connected to this savage attack? Is this enormous urban park a sanctuary in the middle of the city - as it seems to the thousands of New Yorkers and tourists who fill it every day - or is it a hunting ground for a killer with a twisted mind?

Once again, Linda Fairstein will thrill both longtime fans and new listeners with an explosive pause-resister filled with a shocking realism that only she can deliver.

    "Worth the Wait!"
Where does Death Angel rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Pretty high.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Death Angel?

If I say, it will ruin it for those who have not listened to it yet!

What does Barbara Rosenblat bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Barbara does a great job...once you get used to the raspy voice for Mike!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

I LOVED all the details that Linda Fairstein gave about Central Park. Wow, I never knew there was so much history to it. Linda Fairstein always give a lot of background and historical information in her books, but I was so intrigued by Central Park and the ending was GREAT!

"Another wonderful submission by Linda Fairstein !"

Well researched and filled with relatable details, this is true Fairstein. Her ability to mold the story around the geographic and historical details of her city is pure talent. As always this story was interesting and filled with some twists and turns .... in more ways than just the plot! The narration by Barbara Rosenblat was perfection and I cannot imagine anyone else doing this series for Linda since I have come to know the voices as part of the characters. Well worth the wait !

    "What a disappointment!"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story travelled all OVER the place and I was constantly having to back up whenI realized I had simply quit listening. It could not hold my attention for any length of time.
Struggled to get through this, and I usually love Linda Fairstein's books.

What could Linda Fairstein have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Maybe if she had simply spent more time on one plot until jumping somewhere else as soon as she started to get my attention.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Barbara Rosenblat?

    ANYBODY.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Nope. The idea might have been good....but by the time I got to the end, it just...well....ended.... I felt no build up and was left thinking, "wait...that's it?"

    Any additional comments?

Don't waste your time OR your money.

    "Disappointing."
What did you like best about Death Angel? What did you like least?

No much. I found the performance irritating and the plot boring.

What could Linda Fairstein have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I guess I would have rather had more procedure and less personality. Not that I don't love good character development - but this wasn't it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Barbara Rosenblat’s performances?

    Meh.

Did Death Angel inspire you to do anything?

    No

What disappointed you about Death Angel?

To many narratives away from story line in unabridged edition maybe better abridged!

If you’ve listened to books by Linda Fairstein before, how does this one compare?

    Less then expected

What three words best describe Barbara Rosenblat’s voice?

    Pleasant, appealing, experienced

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    a good story line

    Any additional comments?

I can not really judge this book's abridged edition.

    "Linda Fairstein does it again!"
Where does Death Angel rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Another great Alex Cooper story! Absolutely love this - her 15th - book about Coop, Mike and Mercer.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mike, definitely. I want him to win Coop over.

What does Barbara Rosenblat bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices for each character just make the story.

    Any additional comments?

I wish Fairstein would write these books faster, but the quality she delivers is more than worth the wait.

"The narrator's New York accent is horrible!!!"
Would you be willing to try another one of Barbara Rosenblat’s performances?

Her narration was so annoying!!!!!!! New Yorker's --especially NY police officers do not sound anything like the ones she portrays--it was almost impossible to continue to listen--I liked the story--good mystery with lots of interesting background info about Central Park--but sadly, I think I would have enjoyed reading the book more than listening to it.

    "ANOTHER NAIL BITTER"
What made the experience of listening to Death Angel the most enjoyable?

Barbara Rosenblat has such a way with characters & voices that you forget that it's only one woman doing the narration. I can't imagine what she would do to Fairy Tales.

What did you like best about this story?

It was a great thriller about a national icon. I listen when I work at data entry. One night I kept working until almost 4:30 AM because I couldn't shut the book down & go home . . . . I had to know!! The story had enough action to keep me interested without blowing up the world or killing everyone in town. Another great collaboration by an excellent author & truly splendid narrator.

    "Narrator ruins it"

I always like Linda Fairstein's books and her characters. After a while , you feel you know them. But this narrator ruined the character of Mike for me. She made this tall, handsome, Fordham graduate with a degree in history sound like Danny DeVito. it was hard to listen to.
