lntriging

A wonderful beginning to the Deadly series. I enjoyed the lead character, Olivia, very much. How she discovers the truth about her murdered husband & proceeds to hunt for his killer was believable. And I loved the narrator. She brought life to the characters. I ordered the second book before I even finished this one!!

Needs better narrator

The story and idea are good, but a narrator with a recurring speech impediment and who is monotone that all the male characters sounded like robocalls🙄….drove me to almost abandon this book and series as a whole!

Deadly wonderful

This is a great book. I got Deadly Wedding in plus catalog. After listening to deadly Wedding I got Deadly Scandal. Reading the books in order is helpful. I now have all the books. The History of beginning of WW2 in England is very interesting. I thought I knew my history at the time but, I was wrong. You won't be sorry buying this series.

Very Nice Historical Fiction

I very much enjoyed this book as it was an easy read and not too deep but deep enough. I liked the characters very much, but I would have like to see their development go a bit deeper; they are boarder-line flat. There were several moments in the story (such as when she had her flat searched/ransacked for like the 3 time, or when she would galavant around London alone after having already been attacked/warned many times) that I rolled my eyes. The narrative voice for the main character is lovely, but, goodness, the male voices are like fingernails on a chalk board. Adam sounds vapid and slow in the head (not at all sounding like the dashing character that I imagine he is to be), the father, oh, the father’s voice! Just bad!

In conclusion, as a lover of historical fixture “cozy mystery” book, I do recommend this book as a good listen for when driving or getting chores done. I did enjoy it. Was it the best book I have ever listened to? Indeed not; but it was a fun listen.
