Publisher's Summary

Dawson Scott is a well-respected journalist recently returned from Afghanistan. Haunted by everything he experienced, he's privately suffering from battle fatigue which is a threat to every aspect of his life. But then he gets a call from a source within the FBI. A new development has come to light in a story that began 40 years ago. It could be the BIG story of Dawson's career one in which he has a vested interest.

Soon, Dawson is covering the disappearance and presumed murder of former Marine Jeremy Wesson, the biological son of the pair of terrorists who remain on the FBI's Most Wanted list. As Dawson delves into the story, he finds himself developing feelings for Wesson's ex-wife, Amelia, and her two young sons. But when Amelia's nanny turns up dead, the case takes a stunning new turn, with Dawson himself becoming a suspect. Haunted by his own demons, Dawson takes up the chase for the notorious outlaws...and the secret, startling truth about himself.

    "Awesome book. Poor performance"

I love Sandra Brown's books. Loved this one. Good story and kept me wanting more all the time. Narration was very poor. Lots of corrections thru the narration which was very distracting. Also some of the character sounded the same. Very difficult to keep track who was talking.

    "Mixed bag as usual"

Sandra Brown is great at novel plot lines keeping you guessing. However all the male leads start out nasty like the old romance novels with heroine's who pretend to hate them until they learn about some excuse provided to excuse the men's lack of control with sex and anger. The deep love is based on looks and hormones as they allegedly fall in love before they know each other. While I am intrigued figuring out the plot, I have started fast forwarding through the numerous sex scenes as they are the same in every book of hers that I have read. I think she is a talented author who does not have to depend on providing soft porn to sell her books.

    "Worst Sandra Brown Ever!"

Boring! It took me 2 months to get through it. I would fall asleep within a few minutes of listening. I've read/listened to some books that took several chapters before picking up. This one never did - not till the last couple of chapters. It was a waste of a credit.

    "Absolutely Gripping!"
Where does Deadline rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I'd have to say in the top five for sure and I have listened to a lot of really good books!

Who was your favorite character and why?

It's hard to pick just one but I guess I will say Dawson. He has a lot of hidden qualities to him that keeps you wondering.

Which character – as performed by Stephen Lang – was your favorite?

Mr. Lang did a really good job with Bernie.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was surprised by it a couple times but no laughing or crying.

    Any additional comments?

This is a great story from beginning to end. Is is gripping and suspenseful. It has a lovely romance that builds slowly throughout. The plot has the listener on the edge of their seat to the last second. Sandra Brown did herself proud with this book!

    "Classic Sandra Brown Style"
Would you listen to Deadline again? Why?

Maybe after a few months because always the first listening loses some of the details.

Would you recommend Deadline to your friends? Why or why not?

Not an edge -of-your-seat book but still interesting.

Which character – as performed by Stephen Lang – was your favorite?

    Dawson, Obviously.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. There is not enough time for that. But for consistency allow enough time daily to keep up with the story line.

    Any additional comments?

This is one of the better recent Sandra Brown Mystery Novels.

"Another Great Thriller - Mystery From Sandra Brown"
Where does Deadline rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a solid book. I listen to a lot of books so it is hard to rank - I'll definitely listen to it again.

Haunted by his own demons, Dawson takes up the chase for the notorious outlaws...and the secret, startling truth about himself

What was one of the most memorable moments of Deadline?

The end - she-bang! I'll say no more because I hate spoilers...and don't want to give anything away.

What aspect of Stephen Lang’s performance would you have changed?

I liked the sound of Stephen Lang's voice... a bit faster pace would have made it perfect!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No one specific, there were several pivotal moments that turned the story on its head and took the story in an unexpected direction. There were moments of action, romance, suspense, mystery and every emotion.

    Any additional comments?

This is a 'creditworthy' book...complex and page turning book. Enjoy!
