Dawson Scott is a well-respected journalist recently returned from Afghanistan. Haunted by everything he experienced, he's privately suffering from battle fatigue which is a threat to every aspect of his life. But then he gets a call from a source within the FBI. A new development has come to light in a story that began 40 years ago. It could be the BIG story of Dawson's career one in which he has a vested interest.
Soon, Dawson is covering the disappearance and presumed murder of former Marine Jeremy Wesson, the biological son of the pair of terrorists who remain on the FBI's Most Wanted list. As Dawson delves into the story, he finds himself developing feelings for Wesson's ex-wife, Amelia, and her two young sons. But when Amelia's nanny turns up dead, the case takes a stunning new turn, with Dawson himself becoming a suspect. Haunted by his own demons, Dawson takes up the chase for the notorious outlaws...and the secret, startling truth about himself.

Good story! She had me fooled to the end. Maybe I missed it, but was the second child mentioned earlier? But I don't want to give away the book. Sandra Brown writes a great book. Stephen Lang--great job!!
I was skeptical after reading other reviews on here, but I do enjoy her writing. I thought it was a fantastic book and not 100% predictable, there were some great surprises in there!
I love Sandra Brown's books. Loved this one. Good story and kept me wanting more all the time. Narration was very poor. Lots of corrections thru the narration which was very distracting. Also some of the character sounded the same. Very difficult to keep track who was talking.
Boring! It took me 2 months to get through it. I would fall asleep within a few minutes of listening. I've read/listened to some books that took several chapters before picking up. This one never did - not till the last couple of chapters. It was a waste of a credit.
I am addicted to books, audible books, kindle and my 18 beautiful cats! And one dog and a husband too. Lol
Sandra Brown is a wonderful story teller. This one has a twist in the plot I never saw coming, Its a great listen and well worth the money. Great story line and believable characters.
I'd have to say in the top five for sure and I have listened to a lot of really good books!
It's hard to pick just one but I guess I will say Dawson. He has a lot of hidden qualities to him that keeps you wondering.
Mr. Lang did a really good job with Bernie.
I was surprised by it a couple times but no laughing or crying.
This is a great story from beginning to end. Is is gripping and suspenseful. It has a lovely romance that builds slowly throughout. The plot has the listener on the edge of their seat to the last second. Sandra Brown did herself proud with this book!
Maybe after a few months because always the first listening loses some of the details.
Not an edge -of-your-seat book but still interesting.
No. There is not enough time for that. But for consistency allow enough time daily to keep up with the story line.
This is one of the better recent Sandra Brown Mystery Novels.
Say something about yourself!
I enjoyed the book the plot is so interesting that you loose some details in the first reading
Some surprises that keep you listening, good narrative rhythm
The main character, Dawson Scott
Don't take anything for granted life sometimes can surprise you
I can't say without giving away a major plot twist
I love the husky, slow tone of his voice, the way the words roll off his tongue, the emphasis he puts on each one.
Being from the Lowcountry of South Carolina, it made me a bit homesick
as always, a GREAT book
