Publisher's summary

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Charlaine Harris has won an Anthony Award for her one-of-a-kind Sookie Stackhouse mystery series. Sookie, a Louisiana cocktail waitress, skilled telepath, and friend to vampires, has a dedicated fan base that grows larger every day.

Because her mind-reading ability tends to spook people, most of Sookie's friends are of the not-exactly-human variety. And now that her brother is about to transform into a were-panther for the first time, the supernatural world is suddenly a family affair. When Sookie realizes a deadly sniper is gunning down the local changelings, her feelings turn to full-blown terror. She needs to stop the assassain before the next full moon...if he doesn't get to her first.

With its delightfully quirky characters and delicious suspense, Dead as a Doornail is a vampire mystery readers will love sinking their fangs into.

Critic reviews

"Harris does an admirable job of creating a heroine who's not only interesting but completely believable in a world of the strange and the different. Natural and humorous dialogue and a nicely paced plot...make this entry the best yet in the series." (Publishers Weekly)

Audio issues but still a great addition to series

Another fantastic addition to the Southern Vampire series. However, something seemed to be wrong with the audio and/or narration this time. Sookie seemed to lose some of her southern accent in this book and I could hear the narrator swallowing frequently. It was pretty distracting. This shouldn't prevent you from listening to the book though. I'm picky when it comes to narration and if you can get past the somewhat minor audio issues the story is 100% worth a credit! I just hope Johanna is back on track for book #6 because the 1st four books were read perfectly.

Dead as a Doornail

I enjoyed this audiobook a lot. The narrator does a good job of creating the voices and is pleasant to listen to. I've previously listened to "Dead Until Dark" that had an interesting twist - a female narrator, with one male narrator doing all the male characters, which was quite effective. So where are the other titles? I'd love to have the whole series available!

Dead as a Doornail

This is yet another really good, humorous book. I just wish there more with the vampires instead of all the other nonsense.
