Doesn’t compare

Quite honestly, True Blood is better. If you didn’t know the show, the books would be just fine enough but, otherwise, the book doesn’t live up to the show (though I am aware the books came first of course). I’m not going to give anything away just, if you’re coming to read the books bc you’re a major fan of the show, expect disappointment unfortunately. Again not bad, and good for a listen but, just not the same.

Also, I’m not a fan of the reader. Maybe just again, bc I’m partial to Anna Paquin, however, the voice just doesn’t match the character to me. And the accents are borderline racist. I know this isn’t the intention but, nevertheless.

Overall, it’s a decent listen, especially if you’re not familiar with the show. But I don’t think I’d ever re-listen.

My Go To Series...or my New Addiction!

This is a series that I listen to over and over again. It never fails to make me laugh and forget about my day to day troubles as I drive. I was excited when HBO came out with their series, but they failed to stick to the story line in Charlaine Harris Books. I liked the books so much better, but HBO did a good job of getting the characters right. You will not be disappointed in this series, even if you already watched the HBO version. While its slightly different it is the best by far! The story is read by Johanna Parker who does a wonderful job telling the story from Sookie's prospective. She does a great job of handling all the characters and the Southern accent. #Magicial #Sexual #Vampires #Supernatural

Best Book Ever!!!

I loved this book. I would definitely recommend it and will read it again. Ten times better than the show. The reading was so good I could see everything she was saying. Definitely 10/10!

Very entertaining!

Book review: After watching, and loving True Blood, I decided to read the books. I'm glad I did, they're easy to listen to, have a way of holding your attention, and are surprisingly funny.
Not something you'd read for intellectual or political pondering, but a book to help your brain fly in auto-pilot.
Narrator review: I thought Ms. Parker's voice would grate on my nerves, but it didn't, it took a little while to get used to, and now I can't imagine "reading" Sookie's thoughts in someone else's voice.
A peeve- all of the male voices sound the same, but it's not bad enough to make me stop listening.

I really enjoyed this and the narrator was great! Looking forward to continuing the series on audiobook.

Feisty lead

Good story but Bill not the favorite of possible boyfriends. Narrator took a while to get used to. Would have rated it a 3.5 if I could,

Hooked!

I'm late to the Sookie Stackhouse craze, but I am HOOKED! Loved this first book, although Sookie's "voice" is a little grating (as a Southern woman, I hate how most media way overdoes it on the southern accent). But overall, I LOVE this series and will continue listening to all of the books! My guilty pleasure. :)

Second go around

This is my 2nd go around with these books & Im just as in love with them as before.

No surprises if you watch the HBO series

I purchased this listen hoping for bonus insites into the charactures and story line. No such luck. If you have not seen the HBO series than it is a great listen but no new information for the True Blood lover.

This True Blood fan is not disappointed!

No - I was able to go 2 or 3! But couldn't wait to get back to it.

Great entertainment for True Blood fans. God this TV addict "reading" again.
