Publisher's Summary

Jordan Glass, a photojournalist on a well-earned vacation, wanders into a Hong Kong art museum and is puzzled to find fellow patrons eying her with curiosity.

Minutes later, she stumbles upon a gallery containing a one-artist exhibition called "The Sleeping Women", a mysterious series of paintings that has caused a sensation in the world of modern art. Collectors have come to believe that the canvases depict female nudes not in sleep but in death, and they command millions at auction. When Jordan approaches the last work in the series, she freezes. The face in the painting seems to be her own.

This unsettling event hurls her back into a nightmare she has fought desperately to put behind her - for, in fact, the face in the painting belongs not to Jordan but to her twin sister, murdered one year ago.

At the urging of the FBI, Jordan becomes both hunter and hunted in a duel with the anonymous artist, a gifted murderer who knows the secret history of Jordan's family, and truths that even she has never had the courage to face.

    "Engrossing"

I really, really enjoyed this book.

Greg Iles has a great talent for writing flawed female characters, both their personalities and their situations.

I LOVED the narrator; she's got a very honeyed southern accent that fits the main character very well, but she also made all the other characters come to life, too.

    Great book, great listening.

    "Intriguing, artistic plot"

The plot is very intriguing, for the most part well worked out, and very well written. I might have given it five stars, but it is marred by totally unnecessary, highly detailed descriptions of the sexual activity of the heroine.

"Creepy art can make a great mystery!"

This was my second Greg Iles "listen" and I loved it. The story is about an artist who is apparently murdering his subjects and not only did I get all wrapped up in the story but my imagination went wild trying to invision the paintings that were the "evidence" in the murder cases. Listening to Mr. Iles's books can cause you problems however...you will end up listening when you should be doing many other things.

    "WOW!"

I don't know what to say but WOW! I even took a morning off to finish it! This is Definately the best book I've read (and listened to)this year!! It is a book that I would give top honors without a narrator but she REALLY made it come to life. Don't miss it.

    "Very good - complex psychology"

While the reader's voice grated on me, the book transfixed me. The plot about a serial murderer builds on psychological and medical conditions that are very well researched. The whole idea is unusual and solid. As all good mysteries, it's a little addictive - but well worth reading or listening to.

    "entertaining, creative idea"

This is an unusual, entertaining murder mystery. The narrator was good, and the heroine was not your usual "babe" but a thoughtful, "real" woman just entering middle age, with the accumulated experience and wisdom of some twenty-plus years spent as a photographic journalist. Well worth a listen.

    "average thriller"

Premise is promising. Ending has payoff. However, middle is filler and overused villain disorder is not a clever plot twist. Just an average thriller.

Reader's female southern accent fits the main character.

    "Good Story"

The best thing you can say to any author, "Give me More", is my opinion of this one. Thanks Iles.
