Publisher's summary

Michael Valentine, veteran and former member of an elite private military company, has been recruited by the government to conduct a secret counter-terror operation in the Persian Gulf nation of Zubara. The unit is called Dead Six. Their mission is to take the fight to the enemy and not get caught. Lorenzo, assassin and thief extraordinaire, is being blackmailed by the world's most vicious crime lord. His team has to infiltrate the Zubaran terrorist network and pull off an impossible heist or his family will die. When Dead Six compromises his objective, Lorenzo has a new job: Find and kill Valentine. As allegiances are betrayed and the nation descends into a bloody civil war, Lorenzo and Valentine must face off. Two men. Two missions. Only one will win.

A Highly Rated Book that I Returned

Nearly a perfect 5 rating, with two story lines and filled with action. It was hard to follow and seemed like an action book for gun nuts. .45 revolver, 44 magnum, 9 mm tricked up and dozens other guns. If this had been library book, I would have thumbed threw the book toward the end to find the point. 30 some hours I was not going to listen to find the the final piece of the plot.

Doesn't Get Much Better!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dead Six to be better than the print version?

There are some books that I would only get in the print version and some I prefer to get the audible version. With Larry Correia, I don't think it matters. The writing is so solid and the stories so strong that it makes no difference. I just want to get it. I will say that Bronson Pinchot does a great job with most of it and brings the characters to life.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I am one of those people that listens to books while I run or do yard work. When I'm at the gym my mind will usually drift and then I start to look at how many miles I have left to go. That did not happen with this book. I stayed engrossed the entire time and the miles flew by it what seemed like minutes. I really enjoyed the story being told from two different main characters. It was a great way to build depth in the characters.

Which scene was your favorite?

Too many to choose from.

Any additional comments?

I am a big fan of Larry Correia. I have read the print versions of the a couple of the Monster Hunters and also listened to the others. I have enjoyed them all but I found this to be the best one yet. I really enjoyed the two different main characters and how the entire story unfolds. The one thing that bothered me was the narrator's voice of Big Eddie. Fortunately, he does not speak for most of the book. I found him to be a great villain, I just did not like the voice that went with him. If you like great action, fantastic characters, and lots of guns, you will not be disappointed in this one!

Just OK

The story was interesting enough to make me finish but had an ending that was obviously made to make one read the next book which I won't. The narration was annoying with bizarre accents. Carl sounds like Boris Badinoff from Bulwinkle. All the women sound like seductresses.
The author seems to need to prove his knowledge by always inserting needless details about the weaponry.
Not a total waste of time but it could have been better spent on any Tom Clancy book.

5th grade shoot and kill fantasy

A macho shooed-up and complete catalog of all Armament utilized by model number, very stupid story.

Lorenzo. Cheeky bugger!

Which character – as performed by Bronson Pinchot – was your favorite?

Lorenzo & his 2 associates. Loved it all, really.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Gotta admit to laughing at times...probably something I'd not have done had I read the book. Mr. Pinchot's voices were just SO good at times that I couldn't help but giggle. Especially @ Reaper!

What a performance!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Couldn't stop listening due to the brilliant narration and fast pace of the story. The story line is a bit far fetched at times, but hey! that's entertainment and losing ones self in a book is what it's all about.
