A grief-stricken Saudi whose two sons died under torture in the name of the War on Terror is planning to avenge their deaths by striking out at two people close to Shepherd.
As the Muslim assassin closes in on his prey, Shepherd realises that the only way to save lives is to become a killer himself.

His rushed speech made it almost impossible to follow. Especially bad for characters names. Mumbling not helpful, either.
Yes, because I'm listening to the whole series.
whomever the narrator is they must be new. spoke way to fast and was unable to understand or follow along. very disappointing since I used my only available credit.
"another top 'spider' Shepheard novel"
Stephen Leather has, yet again, come up trumps with this, his most recent book. Dead Men, which is the 5th novel to feature former SAS now undercover policeman Dan 'spider' Shepheard contains all the elements needed for a good crime thriller. Leather is adept at weaving multiple story lines together to form a fast, gripping pacy (and undeniably violent) roler-koster of a thriller. in my oppinion, this is right up there with Leathers other top novels and is certainly one of the best Spider Shepheard books. As well as the main character the book is populated with a number of great shady individuals, none more so than the American Richard Yokely (more about him in future books MR Leather please). This book sits right up there with thrillers written by such greats as Jack Higgins and Gerald Seymour and, in my opinion, is far superior to those being churned out by the likes of Andy Mcnab. finally, a word on the reader of this audio book. all of the previous dan shepheard novels have been read by Martyn Read and it was a nice change to hear a new voice and the reader does a great job with this book managing to pull off a large number of different voices and accents.
"Another good one from Mr Leather"
Have read and listened to all of Stephen Leather's books and enjoyed them all. This was no exception.
Excellent narration by Cornelius Garrett who does a great job on a whole host of accents and gets the pace just right.
A good book keeps you listening and this did the job for me.
"stephen's done it again"
Just read this book. Excellent and very much Stephen Leather's usually high standard. Highly recommended. If you like thrillers, you'll love this one.
"This Series just gets better."
Although the story, as usual was great, I didn't really enjoy the narration too much. It seemed a little too "affected"
It always makes me laugh when the narrator sounds a little like Dame Edna Everage on steroids when trying to impersonate a female character. I thought that was the case in this audio book.
Apart from that, which only happens for some of the female characters, another great listen. Right then, as for me, on to the next one!
"Stephen Leather is the man 👍🏼"
Stephen Leather gets better with every book, couldn't put it down, made even better with a different narrator.
Cornelius Garrett brings the characters to life with some great accents.
"Story = Good, Narrator = Annoying"
Have not read the print version.
Dan Shepherd; main character.
No, purely because of the narrator.
Please keep to one narrator for these series, it is incredibly annoying, especially when one narrator is as monotone and dull as this. Found it so hard to get into and ignore him.
"great little book."
i always enjoy these books. They are very easy on the ear and always have a good little story to follow.
Super book with improved narration. This a great story which has better narration than previous books. Learned much about Spider in this book. He is human ... well super human ... after all !!
Absolutely amazing, and gripping by far Stephen leathers best book don't you just love that Charlotte button
"Stronger and stronger"
The series of Dan shepherd gets better and better with each episode.
I was a little weary with a new voice for this episode but soon warmed to it and was immersed into the story.
The characters in the series are great and really enjoying the progress.
With each book so far they finish strong and leave u wanting more.
I have also read Nick stone from Andy and Danny black from Chris and at the min Dan spider is in pole position.
