Publisher's summary

Ex-CIA master assassin Court Gentry has always prided himself on his ability to disappear at will, to fly below the radar and exist in the shadows - to survive as the near-mythical Gray Man. But when he takes revenge upon a former employer who betrayed him, he exposes himself to something he’s never had to face before.

A killer who is just like him.

Code-named Dead Eye, Russell Whitlock is a graduate of the same ultra-secret Autonomous Asset Program that trained and once controlled Gentry. But now, Whitlock is a free agent who has been directed to terminate his fellow student of death. He knows how his target thinks, how he moves, and how he kills. And he knows the best way to do the job is to make Gentry run for his life - right up until the moment Dead Eye finally ends it.

Greaney keeps getting better.

I just love this series. For me, Gentry is the anti-hero as his best. Greaney seems to get better with every book, and I'm already looking forward to the next installment. If you're looking for a great thriller series, look no farther.

Wow! Can hardly wait for the next one!

Mark Greaney has hit a home run. Court Gentry is about the most engaging and compelling character I have ever read and Greaney's vivid and non-verbose writing style is fantastic. I become very emotionally involved in these stories which is a tribute to the skill of the author and the great delivery of the narrator. Just great stuff, informative, well researched and definitely edge-of-seat fare.

Why don't they ever get it right

I really like this genre. I've read several great authors that write these types of thrillers. I don't understand why when these authors spend so much time painstakingly ensuring that the firearms, ammunition and gear being portrayed in these books are very accurate, that time and time again the narrators constantly mispronounce them. Why does this happen! They all do it! Am I the only one who notices this??? This is the fourth book that this narrator has done in the Gray Man series, by now you would think he would know that Luepold scopes are not pronounced lee-oh-poled, they are pronounced lew-poled, and that 223 ammo is not pronounced two twenty three, it's pronounced 2-2-3. These are only a couple examples, there are many more. Don't get me wrong, this narrator is not alone, it happens in Scott Harvath books, and March Rapp books etc, This makes very good books sound very clunky at times. Come on guys, learn your subject matter!

Another home run by Mark Greaney

Just finished Deadeye by Mark Greaney last night and all I can say is wow. Another solid book that starts fast and doesn't slow down and we finally get the truth about the Kiev op. In this book Gentry meets what I would call his alter personality or what he could've been if he wasn't as conscientious and was a little bit greedy. Somebody with all the skills of the Gray Man and no qualms about killing regardless of the moral validity of the target. Deadeye is in his head and on his trail as well as Mossad and some contract operators from the USA. Jay Snider does an excellent job with the narration as usual. If you follow Mark on Facebook he has recently been posting some great pictures of his research trips to various locales around the globe and they really help with visualizing the story. Click the link, buy the book.

The Gray Man Meets his Match

Mark Greaney brings the Gray Man back for another adventure and this time he's up against someone who thinks and acts precisely the same way he does. I love these books and can't say enough good things about them. The story twists and turns and surprises you, all the while keeping up the action and the suspense.

One thing that bothers me about this book and the ones before it. The Gray Man never knows what he did or what happened to get the CIA on his butt and trying to kill him. It's been 4 books now! Please spill the beans and reveal the mystery! How long can this go on? We need the answers. Each book seems to bring us closer to the answers, but just when we think we are getting close the prize is pulled away.

Read a further one and this become repetitive

I accidentally listened to o more current book which made this one seem slow and like I knew exactly what was going to happen. I have learned my lesson on series books - they need to be read in order. Narration was good and made the story come alive. I recommend this book but read it before you read others in the series.

Lots of fun!!!

What did you love best about Dead Eye?

Court Gentry. Great name for a badass guy who doesn't want to be a badass guy.

What other book might you compare Dead Eye to and why?

Reacher books somewhat; Suarez books, deMille books

What about Jay Snyder’s performance did you like?

Didn't distract from the storyline

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It wasn't that kind of book. Unbelievable but lots of fun

Any additional comments?

Just enjoy it as a good read.

Really loving this series

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this series of books. I am addicted, I am really enjoying the series and pleased with the fact I can feed my addiction with one book after the next.

Well done Mr. Greaney you have created a character (as commented before) I consider a flawed personality but someone you want to cheer for.

This book is another page turner/listening chapter after chapter annoyed you have to stop and go to/back to work.

I am eager for the next.

Narration is great, really enjoying Jay Snyder and his words in the continuation of each book.

I started from beginning so this is my 4th book. I thought this was the best story so far.
