Publisher's summary

There once was a killer who knew the night, its secrets and rhythms. How to hide within its shadows. When to hunt. He roamed from town to town, city to city, choosing his prey for their beauty and innocence. His cruelties were infinite, his humanity long since forfeit. But still... he had not yet discovered how to make his special mark among monsters, how to come fully alive as Death. This is the story of how he learned those things, and of what we might do to ensure that he does not visit us.

Good Koontz Short Story

Where does Darkness Under the Sun rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I think Steven Weber's voice acting skills make him a superb narrator for audiobooks, and he never fails to deliver. His work on this short story was very compelling. So, in that, I rank it highly. Now that I've listened to a couple of Koontz's short stories, I think I see where this form is good for him. He can tend to 'wax poetic' a bit, so the short form keeps him on his toes and keeps the story moving. This one was enjoyable and lifted characters and storyline from a previous novel of his, which is always fun to connect the dots.

GREAT book BUT....waste of money.

This is a great little prequel.. BUT most all of the content is revisited word for word in book one.
So even though it was less than $8 ..not exactly a great value . You literally will miss nothing if you don't buy this and just go to book one. If I weren't such a Koontz fan and wanted to be a big B I'd give is zero stars for being a blatant money grab : (

A story for dark nights and cocoa

This is a typical Koontz book and I find them all a very good listening experience. This story did not hold many surprises for me as I could see where it would go but, despite the horror story itself, which was creepy, I did find it a relaxing listen and worth the effort.

Good always triumphs over evil yet evil never dies

This headline is a statement by the detective in this grisly short story. The truth of this dichotomy is why Koontz can continue writing what I call Horror with Heart. Darkness Under the Sun is a tale about children but not for children to read even though the moral of the story is something we all need to live by.

Sub Par

Maybe it is just the length of this, but it begins well and just seems to where he becomes bored with it and brings it to a quick and mediocre end.
