Publisher's summary

When soap opera star Abby Langford leaves Los Angeles for her Minnesota hometown, she’s hoping to give her nine-year-old daughter the peaceful childhood she never knew. But instead of tranquility, Abby finds an old knife hidden between the walls of her new Victorian house. Then the nightmares start: a blood-soaked victim and a killer’s arm slicing through the air, again and again.

Police Chief Josh Kincaid assumes Abby is just scheming to get back into the tabloid headlines. But she’s turning out to be nothing like the spoiled diva he imagined. Abby is warm, honest, sexy, and the target of very real death threats. And now Josh wonders if her visions are of crimes past—or a premonition of terrors to come. As passion engulfs them, Abby and Josh must uncover the truth and stop a killer…before Abby’s worst nightmares come true.

Good

There was nothing great about it, but did have a couple suspenseful parts. The end seemed a bit rushed, but still entertaining. The narrator sounded a bit older than the character, so that kind of threw me off.

Good story

I really enjoyed this one. A little predictable through the book but I liked the surprise I got at the end. Can honestly say I didn't see it coming.

Totally ruined by the narration.

It was a little slow but otherwise nicely written and had a good twist at the end.

The narrator has a nice voice but, man, I hated her narration. She was choppy, biting out words/sentences, and over-emoted to the point of being cringeworthy. By the time of the 'reveal' I felt like shooting Abby myself, figuratively speaking.

I can't get past the overdramatic narration

The story of this book interests me but the narrator is so horrible and overdramatic that I cannot possibly continue it. Any semblance of a good story is overshadowed by horrific narration. It is honestly the worst narration of any book I have ever heard. The narrator sounds much older than the character and I can't stress enough how overdramatic and distracting it is from the story and the characters.

Lol, so Corny. So bad its almost good.

What did you like best about Dangerous Affairs? What did you like least?

Lol, this story was just too much. Cornfest all the way. I particularly hated the romance scenes, they were so Mills and Boon, or how I imagine them to be and the first one was so sudden, kind of shoe horned in as though the author couldn't wait to build up the plot some more first. Suddenly the characters were utterly in love and ripping each others cloths off, but they hated each other!? All the love scenes made me cringe, they were so very soapy and corny. The over the top romance just lead me to believe that this is a romance novel first and foremost with a mystery added to try to add a little weight.

Would you ever listen to anything by Diana Miller again?

No. This kind of book was kind of fun once, but I nearly gave up so many times when the dialogue just got too made for TV and soapy. I had to know what was at the root of the story, so soldiered on through all the cringey crap. I wouldn't do it again.

Have you listened to any of Karen White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Did Dangerous Affairs inspire you to do anything?

Like what? Go and watch a made for TV movie?

Any additional comments?

The narrator was good and very much suited this over dramatic tale. The premise of the story isn't bad and the whole stalker thing kept me listening as I had to know what that was about, but be warned this is in no way original. Its silly, over the top and oh yea, did I mention? Corny!!!

Repeats a lot

I get that we need to be attached to a characters emotions to really get into a book. There were a lot of good parts to this book but there were also a lot of things that are repeated ad nauseum. I wanted to yell "I get it already!"
The ending was good even though I figured out the "who done it" person fairly quickly. There were details that were unexpected.

Pretty Good!

I was pleasantly surprised with this book, I just took a chance on it as I'd never read this author before. I really liked this book! Good story, good narrator, worth a credit. I was completely shocked to find out who the stalker/killer was! I never even considered this person until the scene where you find out who it is. Hope to see more from this author and narrator on Audible.

Good mystery

I enjoyed this book, except it seemed the story dragged on a bit. Overall I liked the mystery and it kept me guessing. I would jump from person to person, but hadn't nailed the killer down before it was revealed. Karen White did a wonderful job with the narration and I will look for other books she has done. Wish I could do half stars! Performance: 4.5, Story: 3.5.
