Absolutely. This was a complete story with beginning, middle and ending, and could be read as a stand alone.
Lucas Soul. Interesting protagonist and a story arc I've never seen before. Fascinating, it grabbed me by the throat and yanked me along for the ride.
Fight scene in the alley.
Giddy with excitement and looking forward to listening to the other books in the series.
The narrative added to the enjoyment, and Michael Bower did a phenomenal job with the different characters. In fact, if Michael Bower is the narrator, I'm going to buy the Seventeen series books in audio as they're published. Yes, they're THAT good.
This is the second novella in the Seventeen series, and Lucas is a bit older now, he is out on his own traveling around looking for the best people to train him to stay alive. Because he knows he is the most hated of all beings a abomination of both his dead mother's and father's people.
This is another wonderful novella and an awesome audio narrated by Michael Bower. Michael Bower made the audio awesome with his command of the characters and their attitudes. His use of different voices for each character is wonderful. This audiobook is just all round great.
"A short burst of gripping action and adventure"
In the usual vein of A D Starrling, this novella is a beautifully written story about the immortal races. This one is set before book one and concerns the half breed immortal Lucas Soul and his determination to become a master in the art of a swordsmanship. Things are never simple in the life of an immortal however, and Lucas stumbles across a plot that threatens the life of the son of the master swordsman whom he hopes to be apprenticed to. Great narration on this one and a very enjoyable listen from beginning to end, filling in some of the blanks in the earlier life of Lucas Soul
