Damaged

My hope for the future is that reviewers learn how to spell before they write and post insidious comments. I found the narrator to be a pleasure to listen to: a soothing voice directing the reader through what I found to be often labor-some text. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Canadian Medical/LegalThriller

Damaged is an intriguing Canadian medical legal thriller that grips the audience from the moment that a horrified Kate feels remorse that she allowed her fears to overwhelm her sense of decency as she knew the grandma made a strong appeal in the interest of her granddaughter. The key to the story line is Kate who is a classic scaredy cat who ends up in "Hell", which could have broken her or given her a backbone of steel. Fans will enjoy a sort of coming of age tale as the women who always chose flight now must choose fight for the first time in her life against a powerful influential opponent.

Great read. Lots of suspense.

It has a hard time getting going. Painting the setting took a little longer than I would have liked but once it was done I loved the story and how they went from all characters’ perspectives.

Good book

The book was interesting the whole way through. But why so much swearing? For someone that doesn't appreciate casual swearing and using God's name in vain, it was hard to continue to the end at times. I get people swear, and maybe some in the book would satisfy those that need that kind of stuff. But I guess I disagree. The sexual references just take away from the story. they felt like the author wanted to get a R rating like movie producers do. I don't understand why they feel their success depends on that stuff. The story should stand for itself. Sex and swearing don't add to it. If it weren't for those two things I would be looking to read more of Callow's books. But, I don't think so.

This book kept me entertained all day. I really enjoyed the dogs in the story and the characters' interaction with them.

Loved the story line. A sure wanted her love interest to be a success. A different take on a serial killer story.

Great Story and Performance

What did you love best about Damaged?

I loved the story and suspense. Pamela Callow has quickly become one of my favorites.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes it did. However, I listened to the books out of order. Listening to Indefensible first ruined some of the plot twist for me. But, I was hooked til the bitter end.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Kate broke into the funeral home. I was so afraid. Acutally said to myself, Kate what are you doing stupid.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was moved by the two elderly ladies. They were sharp. And no one was going to take advantage of them because of their age.

Great romantic mystery.

Where does Damaged rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably in the middle. This book kept me listening. there was just enough suspense to keep it going. I honestly enjoyed this book.

What other book might you compare Damaged to and why?

I would compare this book to a Nora Roberts book, but maybe a little more suspense.

What about Eva Christensen’s performance did you like?

I really liked her, she plays a feminine character really well. She also does a good male, overall she was great!
