Editorial reviews

Natalie Greco, a law professor, is teaching a class at a local prison when a riot breaks out. Trying to rescue a dying guard, she's witness to his last words: "Tell my wife it's under the floor." Suddenly she's suspected of murder, chased by cops and killers, not to mention a colleague with romance in mind. Barbara Rosenblat is a perfect match for Scottoline's dramatic story. Scottoline writes with breakneck speed, and Rosenblat reads breathlessly. Scottoline injects humor, and Rosenblat inserts wry tones to relieve the intensity. Scottoline's characters are fully dimensional; Rosenblat breathes life into them. The author's cast is large; Rosenblat invents a huge range of voices to enliven the exciting story.

Publisher's summary

Law professor Natalie Greco has an ordered life. She feels a passion for teaching, especially her arcane History of Justice seminar, even though the course is pathetically undersubscribed in the high-powered law school. She has an attentive boyfriend and a protective family, although her testosterone-fueled big brothers and very successful parents tend to overlook the quiet Nat.

Then, one terrible day, everything changes. Nat accompanies her colleague Angus to a prison in Chester County, where he's a guest lecturer. They are hardly inside before the speaker system announces a "disturbance" and the warden orders a lockdown. They're smack in the middle of a riot. In front of a horrified Nat, a prison guard is fatally injured. Nat rushes to help him, only to hear his last words: "Tell my wife. It's under the floor. The money."

At that moment, reinforcements arrive, the riot is quelled, and Nat and Angus are escorted out of the building by U.S. marshals. Remembering the dying guard's words, Nat feels she must find his widow. But this is no simple quest, and along the way, Nat is framed for murder and the retiring scholar finds herself in a desperate fight to save her own life.

Daddy's Girl a great read

I really liked Daddy's Girl. The characters were well written and the plot was involved enough not to lag. It was easy to identify with the heroine and her family. I would recommend Daddy's Girl to anyone that likes a little romance with their mystery.

Great characters, plot, and performance!

I love Lisa Scottoline’s characters. I am not a fan of any music in audiobooks (even to break up book sections), but otherwise this title gets a perfect review.

Daddy's Girl - best book ever

Awesome, excellent. Never ending suspense. the question of "justice versus the law" is an poignant one. Just when you think the story is over, another jolt. Scottolini outdid herself with this novel. Loved the suspense, the development of the characters. Fell in love with Angus and wish I could be more like Nat. Highly recommended by an avid reader.

Better Without Music

The story was good but the music was distracting. I felt like the music was just used to take up time.

Great Book

This was a great book to listen to and the narrator was excellent, I really enjoyed all the twists and turns in the story. This book was put together very well with the exception of why the book was titled "Daddy's Girl", I thought the title should have been something different.
I still give this 5 stars and look forward to listen to more of Lisa's books and hopefully with the same narrator.

twists and turns

Yes, this Scottolini thriller had plenty of twists and turns and it was an enjoyable listen. If anything I'd like it to have been longer, more character development. But, it's interesting listening to books from a female perspective, it's good having them be strong. I was sad to realize the final twist in this one was true. It must be fun being an author deciding what to do with your characters. I hope Lisa's students appreciate her!

Right under their noses!

This is a great Scottoline novel in true style. It has all the elements of suspense, drama, romance and intrigue. There are no dull moments and as always the heorine may not always make the best decisions initially but all works out well in the end. The descriptions are so real you can easily visualize the events as they unfold.
