Publisher's Summary

The prophecy in Revelation declares that a quarter of the world must die and now a shadowy organization has the ability to fulfill these words. Can one woman stop the abomination before it's too late?

Israel: A victim of Jerusalem Syndrome jumps to his death from the top of the Western Wall, his body smashed on the ancient stones. Another disembowels himself under the scrawled figure of the Pale Horse of the Apocalypse with the chilling words, "God told me to do it."

Dr. Morgan Sierra, specialist in psychology of religion, travels to Israel to investigate the deaths and becomes embroiled in an international conspiracy that will use cutting-edge technology to carry an ancient curse to mankind. She joins agent Jake Timber at ARKANE, a secret government agency investigating the supernatural and together they hunt down the Devil's Bible, pursued all the way by the evil forces of Thanatos.

From the catacombs of Paris to the skeletal ossuaries of Sicily and the Czech Republic, Morgan and Jake must find the Devil's Bible and stop the curse being released into the world before one in four are destroyed in the coming holocaust. Because in just seven days, the final curse will be spoken and the prophecy will be fulfilled.

    "Excellent, fast-paced thriller"

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. For me, it's better than Pentecost, the first in the series, but like Pentecost, towards the end I was loathe to put it down.

It's full of action and adventure but has a slightly different feel to the previous one, though I can't quite explain why. If you like fast-paced thrillers and don't object to supernatural occurrences, you'll enjoy this.

    Any additional comments?

This starts out pretty fast with action, thrills and chills as people are running to find the evil bible which was made years ago and if in the wrong hands could turn the world into a nightmare. There is mystery of why, where, and what they want to do with this book. As the author takes you through the wild pace she gives you a little history lesson which you will totally enjoy. People are jumping to their deaths and no one has a clue why. The only clue is a drawing of a dark figure leaving everyone wondering what it could mean and what it has to do with so many deaths.

I thought the narrator Veronica Giguere did a good job, there were places in the audio that the volume does change. I am guessing this is when a break was taken. She has a nice voice and good character voices. This was not as even flowed as other audios I have listen to from this author but it was a nice listen. The character voices are nice you have no trouble knowing who is talking and what they are thinking. I heard no background noise or and repeats of words. I enjoyed the listen and look forward to listening to more from this narrator.

This was a pretty fast pace listen with lots of information and tons going on around it. This story is well written with a powerful meaning leaving us wondering if good will out do evil. The author gives you a great plot with a wonderful story along with outstanding characters. Here you will find believers and non believers of the prophecy in Revelation declaring that a quarter of the world must die. A few believe and do their best to make it happen turning the world into an evil place. You will be blow away with all the evil ones have in store for you as they take over your mind making you do things you would never do. The writing style is wonderful as the author displays the plot of good against evil. I am looking forward to the next one in this series.

    "Devil's Book and Revelation"

Crypt of Bone is the second book of ARKANE series and when Morgan joined ARKANE and partnered with Jake Timber. This story began with a verse from Revelation and the mysterious suicides of two patients with Jerusalem Syndrome claiming God told them do it. Dr. Morgan Sierra was invited by her friend and colleague to look into the mysterious suicides of one of her patients since there were no suicide forewarning. What Morgan has stumbled into that someone is experimenting with an audio headphones issuing suggestive thoughts and a plot to kill an quarter of the world population to push forward one of the prophecy from Revelation and the search for the Devil's Book.

This is the second audiobook in the ARKANE series that I have listened to. Although I have started with the sixth book The Gates of Hell, this story is action-packed with religious theme and mysterious Devil's Book that may have been fictional or real and the fanatics who are willing to bring the end of the world to create a world in their own image. What I love most about this series is that the author brings in religious artifacts and the history associated with them that has the readers/listeners intrigue of the mysticism.

The narrator Veronica Giguere, does another great performance. I love the playfulness flirtatiousness between Morgan and Jake. The narrator really captures the character of Morgan.

After listen to these two books from the ARKANE series, I must admit that I am becoming a fan of this series.

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing the review.

"Buried in the bone crypts are the pages to kill."
Where does Crypt of Bone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say about average. As I enjoy her character attitude and speaking differentiation there were some moments of information, about people or places, felt quick in speaking. I repeated a few to catch all the details. But things do move fast with Morgan and there is a lot of information given.

What other book might you compare Crypt of Bone to and why?

I've compared the first book and a few later ones to Indiana Jones type adventure/searches along with the feel of The Da Vinci Code.

Did Veronica Giguere do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes. I do enjoy the different attitudes and feel I get from the characters as Veronica voices them. (I really did grow to dislike Natasha, thanks to Veronica's voice and J.F.'s writing of her.)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I wouldn't say 'moved' by something but I found it interesting the way J.F. worked audio stimulation to help stimulate the brain in different areas to help with depression or anxiety into the story. This was an interesting twist with how it's approached and used, and of course the bad guy finds his way to it.

    Any additional comments?

We do spend time in the crypts and see the bones and skulls of those long dead. Even bodies that are preserved by the chemicals of one crypt. So neat. I didn't feel creeped out. The bones and bodies feel as a part of the design of the rooms. They all seem to have stories to tell with their clothing, if they have any, and their bones.

The action adventure is here, but this book doesn't feel as the height of action as later books in the series. Start at the beginning with Morgan as it grows with each adventure. I do enjoy the religious mysteries and unraveling the depth of the artifacts in ways that are magical. I do look forward to many more books with Morgan!

"A week in the employ of ARKANE"
Would you listen to Prophecy again? Why?

Yes, an exceptional story that not only entertains but makes you think, "what if?"

What other book might you compare Prophecy to and why?

Not to compare Prophecy with the Bible but a lot of quotes come from Revelations

    Which scene was your favorite?

Near the end where the heroine is flying through the air holding onto a chandelier composed of bones

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The villain wanted to get rid of one quarter of the population so he could control the future of the human race

    Any additional comments?

A wonderful book brought to life by a very talented narrator. J.F.Penn is an expert on all types of ancient religions and brings this knowledge to the ARKANE thrillers

    "As good as the first."

The second book is as good as the first. The story line is very interesting and fast paced. Morgan and Jake find themselves in another exciting adventure and not much time to save the world. Highly enjoyable, Looking forward to #3.

    "Tense and exotic religious thriller"
Would you consider the audio edition of Prophecy to be better than the print version?

having not read the print version i assume most audiobooks much more engrossing and this was no exception.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Morgan. A great female protagonist with surprising skills wrapped up in a decent moral character.

What does Veronica Giguere bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

immersion was key in this audiobook and Veronica brought the story to life.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

very tense moments throughout kept me engrossed until the end always rooting for the goody characters.

    Any additional comments?

A Gripping story line, once more bringing back the main characters from Pentecost to solve another religious mystery and moral dilemma for Arcane. A fantastic continuation from the first book in the series Pentecost and places the main protagonist Morgan in situations and places more exotic each time. Tense and suspenseful I found the story full of diverse characters, good and bad, each with their own moral guidelines for life which clashes in moments throughout the book. Deeply enjoyed reading and looking forward to the next in the series.
