Publisher's summary

Six months have passed since the release of Nexus 5. The world is a different, more dangerous place. In the USA, the freedom fighters of the Post-Human Liberation Front use Nexus to turn men and women into human time bombs aimed at the President and his allies. The first blows in the war between human and post-human have been struck.

awesome sequel to a fantastic first novel.

Loved the first book, this definitely built upon it, and sets the stage for one hell of a blow out in the third and final chapter.

Awesome narration, cool emphasis on pronunciation that was lacking in first audiobook, overall outstanding work.

Action filled with little substance

The story setting after Nexus felt familiar and the excitement of the discovery was replaced by gruelling scenes of torture and action. If the first book was interesting with its mix of Buddhist philosophy and neuroscience, the second was repetitive without adding much to the world it had built.

Maybe what turned me off was that this was aimed at a younger audience than myself, probably at teenagers or science fiction enthusiasts in their early twenties.

In any case, even if the performance was generally of good quality, what I enjoyed the most was the unintentionally hilarious accent of the various protagonists.

Not a bad book, just not quite for me.

good but what happened to Luke Daniels?

I bought the first book on the strength of Daniels' narration and loved the story! loved it enough to continue despite Naramore's ho-hum performance. Oh well.

Excellent story and such an excellent reading

Very well done by narrator. Introduces a new dimension to simply reading by oneself. z

Great follow up to first book!

can't wait to read the next! Only disappointment is it ended. Hopefully the next will satisfy the urge!

I couldn't love the premise anymore, but…

I found myself a little bored at times with this and nexus. there is definitely the set up for a third book, but I'm not sure I will listen to it. there were great parts to this book, but there was a lot of flat and boring parts too. I thought this was going to be a book that I enjoyed re-listening to, but I won't be.
nonetheless, it is a very interesting concept.

Changed narrator not bad at all..

Any additional comments?

Luke Daniels is a fine narrator but the change to Mikael Naramore is not a terrible as one reviewer claims. I was neaarly put off from listening by the negative review given to the reader but are glad I ignored his review

Interesting Second Book

This is a pretty good second book in the series. A techno thriller that overlays interlinking human brains through nano-technology on top of a good old political thriller - illegal activity, corrupt politicians, power hungry billionaires. Standard James Bond like stuff! Good quick read.

Not Yet Finished

What did you love best about Crux?

The story is so well thought out that it doesn't just sound possible, but in some ways, probable.

Have you listened to any of Mikael Naramore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have nothing against this reader, but I do wonder why different readers were selected for each of the three novels in this trilogy.
