Crunch Time

Love the Goldie series, another hit for Diane Mott Davidson. Loved the ending that left a question in the air. Also, Barbra Rosenblatt is my favorite narrator.

crunch time

I was warned in advance that the latest Goldie was not as good. I agree that it is not the greatest of these volumes, but it was a good read for me. I have always enjoyed these stories as they are an ok mystery and are fairly uncomplicated and easy to follow. I like the characters and have always felt like I had taken a pleasant trip while reading one of these stories; this time was no exception, I enjoyed the ride. Be warned however, this time Ms Davidson expands things and tells a longer story with more plot, but was not none the less still a good trip to Colorado for me.

Avery, very, very good listen!

Would you consider the audio edition of Crunch Time to be better than the print version?

Did not read the print version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

As always my favorite character was Goldie, she gets into tangles that seem impossible to get out of, but she does with flair.

Have you listened to any of Barbara Rosenblat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This performance was exactly as expected, very good and expressive.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was light hearted, but there periods of sadness.

Any additional comments?

Glad they finally got rid of the jerk, he was no longer relevant. Can not wait to see who will replace his character.

Keeps me on my toes

Would you listen to Crunch Time again? Why?

Diane has done it again. Just as I am guessing who the villain is the tables are turned and it is someone I never expected. I love her books.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes , something was always happening. It was hard to stop listening when I had to go to work.

What does Barbara Rosenblat bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

yes she does by using different accents and tones that I would not use in my head had I read it to my self. Also I love having someone read to me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laugh at different times

Any additional comments?

No I think I said it all

What a Tangled Web We Weave

There are a number of trails to follow, but they all lead to deceit. This keeps our Goldie busy throughout the book, and us entertained.

LOVED IT!!!

I'm a huge fan of Diane Mott Davidson's books. Crunch Time is really good! I love the fact that they focused more on Goldie and Tom. Arch and Julian is getting older so not so much on them but that didnt bother me much because the story line was so well done. I cant wait until the next one!!!!
I really loved Crunch Time...

Diane Mott Davidson is ALWAYS a GOOD READ!

This story witll not disappoint you at all! I loved this book as much as I have the other books by Diane Mott Davidson. Goldy is always entertaining! I also appreciate the realistic depiction of the Episcopalian church/religion. The title is a play on words for the theme/plot. This book is worth the read. I only wish Mott Davidson would write more books! I cannot get enough of Goldy's antics.

They always get better!

What did you love best about Crunch Time?

I love rejoining Goldie and the people in her life! It is always a fun read and Diane Mott Davidson never fails to boost my appetite with her scrumptious recipes. Aunt Ferdinanda is probably my favorite part of this book. It's nice to see an older adult portrayed as vital and useful.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was excellent in this book. It's always an exciting challenge to figure at least part of it out before the end. Then, I get to feel smart and victorious! I was unable to figure out all of this one, but I had a good idea of who dunit.

Have you listened to any of Barbara Rosenblat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to many of Barbara Rosenblat's performance. I adore her voice. Like whiskey - and yes, I equate it with the voice of Goldie! Why shouldn't a curly-haired blonde have a rich voice? I'm a straight-haired blonde with a deep, southern accent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The part when aunt Ferdinanda proved exactly how useful and skilled she is! You go Ferdinanda!!
