Publisher's summary

Evan Delaney knew China Lake was a tough place to grow up. But she doesn't know how tough until she returns to the desert military base for her high-school reunion and learns that several of her classmates died young. Then, on the first night of the reunion, another one dies - this one savagely butchered. And she's just the first.

Someone has an ax to grind. And Evan's graduating class has something to fear.

Crack another case with Evan Delaney.

Great plot, gory details

I have not read this author before although I understand Evan Delaney has starred in more than one novel. The plot was engrossing and in itself worth the listen but some of the scenes were really savage. It wasn't enough to give an intimation of vicious acts; Ms. Gardiner wrote with enough chilling, bloody detail that I actually found myself fastforwarding through parts, wondering if I had bought "horror" instead of "thriller". And there wasn't just one such scene but five or six, enough to discourage me buying another of her stories.

Great story

Great story. Narrator had a rough time changing her voice for the reading which made it sticky to follow at times when several women were in the scene.

The ending dragged on but still enjoy the series.

I feel it was dragging on in the end and some other details could have explained more. But.lime the fact that Evan's parents were in the book.
