“Michael Boatman gives a first-rate narration in this latest installment in the Alex Cross series. A second narrator, Tom Wopat, artfully portrays the homicidal maniac who plans to destroy Alex by destroying his family. Boatman captures the tension in the plot and keeps the listener engaged with the action. His portrayal of a bereaved Alex Cross--voice trembling with despair--will have listeners spellbound. And his total command of the story is like a zip line to Alex's hell. Though the symphony of terror isn't over at the conclusion of the audiobook, fans of Michael Boatman will revel in his delivery of this captivating thriller.” (AudioFile)
"[Patterson's] books don't pussyfoot around when it comes to the villains. These are bad, bad people... [I, Alex Cross] is political, with a lot of intrigue in high places." (Al Roker, The Today Show)
It was okay but Alex seems to be more interested in political and psychology than solving the mystery.
Performance was fine.
Disappointed in the tease for another Cross book and more disappointed when the last 20 minutes or so was an advertisement for another not Cross book.
I wish I had read other reviews before buying this book. The ending was as stupid as any I have ever seen in a book. There is NO satisfaction from listening †o this book. I would not recommend it unless you are a serious Alex Cross fan. Even then, wait until the next one comes out so you will have an ending to this one.

So far, this is the most emotionally charged of the Cross Series. Not only do we see Det. Alex Cross as the meticulously organized and systematic Officer but the book depicts his human side as a loving father, husband and just one human being elated to savor the accomplishments of his family but also at a total loss after his a five-fold tragedy befell in his own household. Mr. Patterson is one author who knows how to pierce that pain center in our brain and share the misery of Mr. Cross as he helplessly deal with his tragedy and how he succumbed to a vacuum when he realized that there is nothing else out there to live or die for. But then, there is a Sequel to this book and Mr. Patterson trumps again to keep us hoping that with one stroke of his pen, the plot reverses to a complete 360 degree revolution.
Reading has always been my guilty pleasure. I would take stacks of books from the library. Now I listen to Audible.
OMG! What a book! When is the next one coming, I don't know if I can wait!!!
Not worth the cost
I am so in love with Alex Cross I don't know why I am complaining. He does not have super powers so I just need some of the stuff he goes through to just be a little more realistic.
I love the books...I love - love the fast pace but this one was just a bit much. How much can one person go through and be ok. This one just way to over the top but I gave the 3 stars because I know I will either order the print book or donwload the next audio book.
This was my first listen to a James Patterson Novel. I loved it. The story line and the change in voices of the narrators kept me engaged and attentive throughout the book. The plot was intriguing. Patterson's take on stalkers and serial killers kept me interested throughout.
I enjoyed this book more than I have the past several Alex Cross novels. The performances were great. The only thing I found distracting was the ominous background music when something goes wrong. That seemed a bit hokie to me.
Loved it. Great writing. Great storylines, truly enjoyed the complete cast involvement loved how it all tied together and the she helped Alex in the end wile she helped her self even is she might not have realized.
I love the story how it was put together buy mystery to another mystery to be solved in each case on his own personal ground, the type of motivation that keeps the reader mind on the story.
