The toughest cases are the ones that hit close to home.
When his cousin is accused of a heinous crime, Alex Cross returns to his North Carolina hometown for the first time in over three decades. As he tries to prove his cousin's innocence in a town where everyone seems to be on the take, Cross unearths a family secret that forces him to question everything he's ever known.
Chasing a ghost he believed was long dead, Cross gets pulled into a case that has local cops scratching their heads and needing his help: a grisly string of socialite murders. Now he's hot on the trail of both a brutal killer and the truth about his own past - and the answers he finds might be fatal.

I wasn't sure that I was going to like this book because it started out slow. However, I am very glad that I did continue to listen to the book because it really did get better. In fact in ended up loving the book
I have loved Alex Cross since the very first book, and this one is no exception... When Cross goes “home” again after many years because a cousin is on trial for the heinous murder of a child, not only does he wind up solving the crime and finding the real killer, but he also finds himself. There are many twists in this tale, and the very last one made me cry. Excellent read!! 5+ stars.
I am someone who enjoys audible books very much now that they exist. As a young student (real young) I can remember a teacher telling me how books can transport people to different places & open up a whole new world. This is how listening to audible books make me feel. Now if I can just stop falling asleep while listening to them at night I would be fine. Ha ha
Rarely does a book come along that keeps the momentum for the reader on high throughout the book from beginning to end, but this one does. It is fabulous! book that allows for mystery to meet mystery again & again. And the narration is great too. It has something for everyone to enjoy, ponder over, guess & then guess agin & still the end will still blow the mind. Bravo James Patterson, Bravo
Absolutely, I would read another James Patterson Book. I guess there was a shortage of available reader to put Ruben's voice as Alex Cross. A true mismatch.
As a narrator I'm sure Rubin is fine, sadly he was not the right match for this character.
It sparked a request for a refund shortly after I started listening. What a disappointment.
I am a huge fan of James Patterson. If you enjoy Alex Cross, you must read this book! I actually teared up as my heart filled with emotion for Nana Mama and Alex Cross! My favorite so far!
This book has so many twists and turns you won't figure it out until he wants you to. Not many authors can do this. I can usually figure out a plot in the first couple chapters but not this one. This is a must read!!!
