Buyer Beware!!!

I'm a huge fan of Patterson and Alex Cross. Sadly, the voice of Alex Cross has changed and not for the better. It's horribly distracting. I made the mistake of pushing this one through my cart as soon as it was available so I didn't even realize the narrator changed. Don't get me wrong, I think Andre Braugher is a fabulous actor but i'm not buying his Cross. It's the audiobook equivalent of Morgan Freeman playing Cross on the big screen.

My poor review has more to do with the listenabilty of the book and not the actual story. Sadly, the bad narration may prevent me from listening to the full book. I'm hoping I can return it because I'd rather listen to my mechanical Kindle voice read it than listen to this butchered book.

Don't Listen to Buyer Beware

I'm not sure what the problem was with the reviewer that said Buyer Beware. I listened to this book and loved the narrations. I've listened (verses read) the whole Alex Cross series and although the narrator changed, I thought the team was good and had a nice flow. Yes it was someone new to the part, but it didn't take long for the new voice to blend with the part of Alex. This was a really good book and brought some of the characters from previous books back to keep the reader actively involved in the story. I'm sure if you are a fan of the Alex Cross series you will be pleasantly entertained by this book regardless of the change in narration.

Bad choice for narrator

I like Andre Braugher but NOT in this venue. He reads too fast and it distracts from the content. I am not sure I will make it through the entire book and that is sad. I love the Alex Cross series but feel I wasted a credit on this book. Changing the reader so drastically is disconcerting at best. Sorry Mr. Braugher, keep doing what you are great at - acting and leave the narration to those who do a much better job.

I can't get past the bad reading.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I just stopped listening to this one - it is the worst reading job I have ever heard. Not sure which narrator it is that is bad, Andre or Jay, but whoever is doing Alex is TERRIBLE. This is so monotone, emotionless, and even poor reading! Pauses at the wrong time, pauses when there shouldn't be any. This is terrible terrible work for a patterson book. AVOID this - seriously - avoid.

I wish I could get a refund as I had to stop this audio. I wish I could rate 0 stars for performance which is too bad because the other narrator is okay --- just can't get past who is doing Alex. Seriously folks? How many millions are you making on the audio alone? Don't you listen to this?!?!?!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Couldn't get to the ending! Too poor of reading

Would you be willing to try another one of Andre Braugher and Jay O. Sanders ’s performances?

NO NO NO NO NO

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not if the narrator was in it!

Any additional comments?

AVOID at all costs!

Lacking substance

I have no complaints about narrator Andre Braugher. There have been various narrators for the Alex Cross. This story lacked substance and character development. There was no reason to why Christine showed up. Where did she disappear to after the ice cream? Favorites such as the Cross children Janine and Damon had little roles; Alex's best friendSampson made a brief appearance. No reason for the Mice and Men characters. Their storyline lacked purpose and was boring. It added nothing to the main storyline. OK book , but seemed like a formula written book.

He really is terrible

This is just a mess. Andre Braugher does a terrible job. He's reading with no presentation or emotion in his voice, just a flat monotone. The other guy (Jay Sanders?) does a really good job as the bad guys though. And this book has Kyle Craig in it. I really hate super-inflated villains like Kyle. I just started the second part and I'm ready for one of them to die. I really don't care which one at the moment just end it. I got this with a free credit so I shouldn't feel so annoyed but the Alex Cross books are the reason I joined Audible in the first place. I'm about ready to give up on James Patterson.

Hard getting past the narration

I am an Alex Cross fan but must agree with many others who have reviewed this audio book. Love the story but I'm just not feeling Andre Braugher as Alex Cross. In fact, his narration is interfering with my enjoyment of the story. I think the book is worth downloading for the story but I sincerely hope any future Alex Cross audio books return to one of the previous Cross narrators.

Worst Narrator Ever on Patterson Book

What happened to the great narrator usually on Patterson books? This guy sounds like he is going to sleep and makes me want to buzz off too. Love the words, hate the voice, inflection etc. Why did you change? Get the other narrator back and label it so everyone can see "Original Narrator's Voice" on this newest novel and thereafter. If he died, then find someone else that sounds like he is alive and has some realistic enthusiasm for his work.
