Publisher's summary

When the home of Alex Cross' oldest friend, Ellie Cox, is turned into the worst murder scene Alex has ever seen, the destruction leads him to believe that he's chasing a horrible new breed of killer. As Alex and his girlfriend, Brianna Stone, become entangled in the deadly Nigerian underworld of Washington DC, what they discover is shocking: a stunningly organized gang of lethal teenagers headed by a powerful, diabolical man - the African warlord known as the Tiger. Just when the detectives think they're closing in on the elusive murderer, the Tiger disappears into thin air. Tracking him to Africa, Alex knows that he must follow. Alone.

Cross Country Review

I found this Audiobook to be quite exciting and enjoyed the narration. While I can't quite picture a Morgan Freeman in the role of Alex Cross for this book, it was narrated very well and I particularly liked the audio enhancements and sound effects during suspenseful moments during chase scenes.

Cross Country

This book was performed well. I just didn’t care for the story line. Very graphic. I’m aware of the atrocities that occur in Africa but this story brought it home. Not my favorite Alex Cross book.

Disappointing

I finished but skipped chapters as it became so repetitive. I was sick of hearing Alex Cross being tortured. That’s all this was. Person after person getting slaughtered after interacting with him. Not forwarding THIS book to ANY of my friends. Just flat out disappointed.

Alex Cross morphed into a moron.......

I'm only half way thru the story, and can hardly force myself to finish. The performance is excellent....as always. But what happened to the brilliant Alex Cross?

This story makes him look stupid and/or crazy.

He chases a murderer (a gang of murderers) to the most brutal and uncivilized part of Africa....where he has no knowledge of the laws, customs, and practices....where he has no support system, no authority, and no respect. And then he's surprised to find it's lawless and alien. He's surprised that he doesn't have the right to due process or any other of the constitutional rights that don't exist outside the USA.

He's chasing the worst kind of killer, the kind that makes the inner-city gang members of New York or L.A. look like boyscouts, with no gun or backup. It's too absurd.

I'm forcing myself to finish the story.....but his stupidity in this book is driving me crazy.

gotta love Alex cross

I love the way Alex is able to figure out who did what on the fly but most of all once he has time to calm down and think and rest and step back he is able to organize his thoughts and put all the pieces together.
